Pacifier Story... ie. How to get rid of this thing!!

I've been reading stories about other parents trying to eliminate the use of pacifiers. I recently bought a Mam binky for my son and saw a link to a story. I haven't tried it yet, but I'm going to with my daughter. She's almost 2 1/2 and I think she'll understand the story. She only gets her binky at naptime and bed, but she's so addicted! I'm really afraid it's going to goof up her sleeping, which has always been pretty darn good!

As for those under 2, it's probably child dependant. Anyway here's the link. It's a cute story.

That's a really cute story! I may try it with Jack when we decide to cut the binky out.

Joshua doesn't use a binky anymore for naps or bedtime....BUT he loves to steal Kyle's .

Great story..must keep that for Kyle when it is his turn!

PS. These are the only that Kyle will take! I got one free with a british baby magazine last year when I was in Ireland while pregnant and Kyle took to it from the start.

That is a cute story! We wanted Emily off her pacifiers (and the MAM's are the only ones she would use) before Molly arrived, just to head off any 'stealing' that might occur. I took a deep breath, and on March 1 (she was 13 months and 1 week old) I cut the tips off all pacifiers. She only took them in her crib and in her car seat, so luckily I only had a few to destroy.

The first night was pretty rough...she cried for about 5 minutes or so, and then in the morning woke up furious, because she would usually suck on them before getting up for the day. When I went into her room, she had thrown them on the floor and was almost yelling at them (or me). I just explained to her that she wore them out, they were broken, and we couldn't get any more. By the third night, she was fine, and I threw them all away.

Molly's never taken one, so that won't be an issue. Emily is so adjusted now to not having one, she doesn't even notice them. One Sunday about 6 weeks after we snipped her pacis, the church nursery staff mistakenly clipped a MAM pacifier to Emily's dress (it really belonged to her little friend Cassie). Emily didn't even notice it there!
