Exersaucer question

At what age did you put your child in an exersaucer? I think we put Emma in one at 4 or 5 months, but we're thinking of letting Krishan have a go of it now (3 months). He's got great head and neck control, which I'm guessing is the main concern? I know the manufacturer's recommended age is 4 months +, but I was curious if anyone started using it earlier?

We started around 5 months...I tried putting Jackson in earlier but he wasn't tall enough. Even at almost 5 months I had to pile blankets in the bottom so his feet would touch...

I think Norah was 5 mo, so about 3mo adjusted. She had great back & neck control. Elliott was a little after that, so more along the 6mo/4mo line.

Great! thanks, everyone. Looks like it's time we pull out the "office", as we used to call it! I think Krishan's going to love it.

Jillian will become famous soon enough
The weight guidelines is that baby has to be over 12lbs, so Janelle was 6 months before she reached this and by that point she could pull up on her own and wanted nothing to do with the exersaucer...

I figured we'd get it out for Caid when he can sit up unasisted (as in we sit him up and he can stay there) for at least a minute.

How long do you think your child spends in it each day?

Matthew did 10-15 minute intervals maybe 2-3 times a day (so 45 minutes total). He didn't like to do anything for very long. Some kids like to be in their bouncy seat or exersaucer for much longer.

Carolyn does about the same thing... some days it might be a little more or less but that is about average.

Emily first went in one around 3 1/2 months, and loved it. We had to put a blanket behind her to take up extra space so she didn't slump a lot, but by 4 1/2 months she was in it alone. It was great for those times when I needed to take a shower, do laundry or something during her waking hours and wanted her to stay put and safe from the dog!!

We first put Kassidy in the saucer when she was 3 1/2 months. She liked it, but it realllly never was her favorite toy. She maybe played in it for 45 min-1 hr. each day.
