Big Babies.

Do they really slow down as far as weight gain? We weighed Caid today on a digital scale at the mall, so not 100% accurate and he was fully clothed, but he weighed 13lbs 10ounces at my 6 week pp appt on thursday he was 13lbs, 5 days before that only 12 1/2 lbs. I'm completed and totally amazed that anyone can gain 1/2 lb+ a week and really want to know when it stops! My 20 month old only outweighs him by 4lbs now(though she is on the extreme end of small)!

Yes, the really slow down around 1 ~ mobility is wonderful. Matthew would have probably slowed down before then had he crawled before he was almost 11 months I can't remember totally, but I'm pretty sure he was 14lbs something at 2 months and he was 21lbs at 6 months and then 26 at 1 year and 33 at 2 years.

I also have a big baby and I sure hope he slows down. We weighed him on our home scale yesterday and he is 16.5lbs at 2.5months (he has a 8 month old cousin who is 17lbs). But I'm not going to hold my breath, my brother and I didn't really slow down growing much (I'm 6' and he is 6'5") and I think DS is going to follow in our footsteps and dwarf his daddy (5'11").
On the good side I'll get some good money for his outgrown clothes at the consignment store because they look barely worn, because they are. He is in 6-9 month clothes at 2.5 months and will be in 12 month clothes before the summer is over.

It definitely slows down around a year. I had a big baby too.

Sean was 7lb 12oz at birth, then:

1 month: 12 pounds
2 months: 15 pounds
4 months: 18 pounds
6 months: 23 pounds
1 year: 29 pounds
15 months: 30 pounds.

Ohh my...well caid was 7lbs 7ounces 21 1/4th inches at birth and at 5weeks tony only had him beat by 2 ounces (12 lbs 8 ounces) and Caid was almost a full inch taller! Wow...35lbs at 2 years, I'm just hoping Janelle will hit 20 by then... I wonder if my kids could be anymore opposite?

Thanks guys!

Now my question would have to be about clothes...he's getting long for 3-6 month sleepers now...does this mean I should assume he would be around 18-24 months size wise for his first birthday?

Well, Katie sure slowed down!

She was 10lbs 13oz and 22.25 inches at birth...now, at almost 6 months, she is roughly 13lbs 8oz and 28 inches.

Her length and head circumference continue to be off the charts, but her weight rapidly is coming down the percentiles.

Adam is 21 pounds at 5 months. Emma was a big baby to.

They both were gaining about a pound a week there for awhile, Emma is back on charts and skinny.

Emma was 6 pounds 12 ounces at birth. At 4 months she was 18 pounds... Now at her 1 year appt she was 22 pounds 12 ounces, but she had been sick for 3 weeks before that and had not been eating. When we took her to the ER a couple of weeks later - with all her clothes and shoes on they said 26 pounds!!! I am hoping that is way off, but it has slowed down alot!

Carson was born at 6lbs. 9oz. and like Caid he's been gaining very quickly and very steadily.

At 5 weeks he was 9lbs. 5oz. and as of yesterday (7 weeks 2 days) he's at 10lbs. 6oz.

I've asked the doctor several times if he's gaining too quickly because it just amazes me how quickly he's gaining.
