Another Potty Training Question.

What do you do if your child is ready to potty train but the parent isn't?

Emma is showing all the signs to be ready for potty training but I want to wait. My reason is I want Adam to be a little bit more independant to free me up to make the commitment to do. If I wait to long do I mess things up?

She is so ready I think. She takes own diaper off if she has pee'd or pooped, she is always dry in the morning and always sits on her potty when I do.

Can I just start with the routines? Like first thing when she wakes, before bed etc?

TIA

Kris

I would think that the routine would work great for you. That way you can have her going when it's most convenient for you.

Jillian will become famous soon enough
We are right there with you. Right now we only put janelle on the potty when she asks...she hasn't peed anywhere other than a toilet in quite awhile though...so I guess she is potty trained as far as peeing goes...but I still keep her in diapers....she's done everything herself...I just didn't want to deal with potty training yet, and she is still so young that I knew we could wait awhile on it.

(ohh, our one problem is she doesn't even seem to be aware that she has already pooped let alone that she needs to, so it will be awhile before she is totally trained.)
