Kicking: how to discourage it?
My DD is 9 months old and has recently started kicking me when ever I try to change her diaper or change her clothes. I have been kicked in the chest, nose, glasses. and it is starting to drive me crazy.
Most of the time she is just happily kicking around. I try to discourage it by holding her legs and saying "no" firmly but she just smiles and keep doing it. Any suggestions are welcome? I don't want to be beat up by a toddler in a few months. ![]() |

I try to divert Aaron's attention by taking his feet and hitting them together like clapping. It works long enough for me to distratct him but I sometimes have to resort to singing, dancing etc. Sometimes diaper changes take a lonnnnnng time. I've been hit in the breast by him (when it was verrrry full of morning milk!) and I saw stars! I completely feel your pain and will see what everyone else does too!

I don't think at 9 months they have the ability to kick on purpose, too me is sounds like just active play.

My guy does that too but it's dissipated lately -- seems like he was kicking more around 4-5 months when it was a new skill.
