Moving with an infant

Has anyone ever moved with an infant? DH and I are discussing children, but we will possibly be moving next summer / fall (about 1000 miles away). Can you share any stories with me of any moves that you did with a baby?

redhairedgirl is just really nice
We moved when Aiden was 5 months old. The only thing I suggest is ORGANIZATION! I had all of Aiden's supplies put in rubbermaid containers and labeled really well. We also told the Movers we wanted his crib to be the last thing on the truck and the first thing set up.
It really wasn't as bad as we expected. Oh, but if you can, find someone to help you with packing. Packing and taking care of an infant is a bit hard. They really don't let you do much. LOL

We just moved last week actually, only about 5 miles but I'd rather pack my stuff up for a 1000 mile move then for just 5 miles, it would make me feel more usefull of that, anyways, the move went great, Adi was about 3 1/2 months, we set her pack and play up while her crib was in transiiton and like Mandy did we used rubbermaid totes, actually for quite a bit of our items it just make it so much easier, and definitly organize organize organize!

Our friends waited to move until their girl was a toddler, I'm not sure if they thought she would be able to help or what, but said it was a small slice of h*ll. They wish they would of done it while she was a non-mobile infant versus an active, mobile toddler.

We moved when my oldest was just under 2 and my youngest was 4 months. The movers did all of the packing and moving so this made it alot easier. Other than that... it was just the drive but when they're that young, they're usually pretty easy to transport.

We moved when Maggie was 5 weeks old. It wasn't too bad, but if we had it to do all over again, I would pay for movers!

We moved when Alex was 3 weeks old and it was HELL! We had movers but they didn't pack for us. We got an offer on our townhome the day I went to deliver. I had a c-section so I was there for 4 days. My dh handled all the negotiation junk and when we got home from the hospital it was time to scramble to buy a new house. I spent the 1st three weeks of Alex's life packing, caring for an infant and recovering from surgery. Then we moved to spend the next three weeks unpacking. My DH worked at work and I worked at home. There was no time for anything else. I hated it and I would never recommend it to anyone.
