Silver nitrate
Krishan's belly button has a granuloma, which had to be treated today in the dr.'s office with silver nitrate. I forgot to ask the ped, however, if it's o.k. to bathe him normally while the silver nitrate is doing it's magic.
Anyone's babies have to get silver nitrate on their belly button, and do you remember if you could bathe your baby normally?

Katie had to have it to help her cord stump fall off and I wasn't allowed to bathe her--but that was because of the stump, I think, and not because of the silver nitrate.

Hayley's ped put silver nitrate on her belly button to help it heal after the cord fell off, and he said only to give her sponge baths and not get the belly button wet. I took her back a week later and it was all healed and he then gave me the ok to bathe her.

We also had silver nitrate to help the cord fall off, and then the DR put something else in her belly button because she had a little protusion (I think it may have been what you said, but the dr never specified). He never said that we couldn't bathe her normally.

well, the granuloma fell off the next day, so I went ahead and bathed him normally. So far it looks just fine. Thanks for the input!

Yeah - I think it was fine. They used silver nitrate in my mouth so I don't think it will come off. (ironically I am allergic to it and it was a disaster!!) Now I know!
