Best Potty Chair for boys?

I am looking or a potty chair. I don't want music and singing, but I'd really like to find a nice wooden one. One Step Ahead has one but doesn't appear to have the shield in front for a boy.

Any suggestions?

I just wanted to subscribe!

We got Nolan the royal potty that has the music, but honestly, I don't like it for a boy. I am guessing part of it is that he is just not ready yet but when he sits on it (which he hates, he only wants to stick his head in it) he won't sit back far enough because he is struggling, trying to get up and the part that holds the pee has a lip on it that is always brushing up against his penis. I guess that could be part of why he doesn't want to sit on it. I wish I had saved the receipt since he has never peed in it, only sat on it... but then again, I would be irritated if I received a used potty seat, peed in or not

Well I ended up geting the Graco with the soft seat. My first choice was to get the Graco wigth a hard seat, but BRU didn't have any and I wanted the potty NOW! I could not find a wooden one with a shield, and so after reading reviews I decided on the Graco. Sam seems to like trying to sit on it - I put it in our downstirs bathroom since whenever I say I am going potty he darts in there and has to be in there. He's highly interested but we aren't trying it without a diaper or anything just quite yet.

That's so great that he is interested. I don't want to rush Nolan but at the same time, I want him to be interested. I guess this is another area where I just need to learn more patience!!

He may be starting preschool/day care here in the near future and I am hoping that may spur his interest when they discuss it and such. Has Sam's school done anything to learn/talk about it yet?

I'm thinking about getting a potty chair for Julian, and I'd love to hear more about what's worked for other moms of boys!

Well Sam is graduating to the toddler room at daycare next week and they start potty training in that room. They said they wait until the child shows interest or until the parents ask them to start. I prefer to start Sam at home, as I've read how forcing them too quickly can backfire. But I'm sure he will get lots more exposure to the potty there. The next step at home is to put him on the potty naked and see what happens. I'll have to try it after dinner tonight or something. My coworker's son who is 3 weeks younger than Sam pottied in his last night! She has hers next to the bathtub and put Logan on there before bath time. Sam's is downstairs so I might have to haul it up there at night. Or maybe I need another potty for upstairs.

I am looking for one for Tyler now too. Not really to train him yet but just to have there for him to get interested. I think I am going to get the Training Rewards Soft Seat by Grace based on the reviws on toysrus.com. I will come back and post how it goes after I get it
Great thread!

You girls read my mind!!

Steven will be 20 months old in a couple of weeks, so I think it's time to buy a potty to get him interested/thinking about it. I sometimes make him follow me in and I talk to him about going potty, but I have yet to buy one and get him comfortable with it.

Keep the reviews and the advice coming!

We gave up on the whole potty seat and chair thing as Joshua didn't seem interested in it. We have had lots of success with just sitting him backwards on the regular toilet seat so he is straddling the bowl and facing the tank....Does that make sense?

Plus it makes life easy when we are out and about or at other people's houses. No need to carry a potty for him.

We're using the Graco soft seat and having a lot of success right now. I love it because I can take the seat off and put it on the big toilet or use the potty alone and Jack uses it both ways. I usually put him on the big toilet indoors and take the whole potty outdoors when he's playing outside.
