Dollhouse?

My DD is turning 2 in May, and she's completely, head-over-heels in love with this dollhouse.

http://ww2.potterybarnkids.com/cat/p...k100&cmsrc=kwd

Whenever we go to the mall, she asks to go play with the dollhouse, and I can barely drag her away when we need to leave. SO, I know she likes it. And I'd LOVE to get her a dollhouse for her birthday, but that one is SOOOOO expensive. However, I've looked around, and it's the only one I've found that is appropriate for a toddler. (Well, except a cloth one, also at Pottery Barn Kids, and the cloth one is really flimsy. DD has seen it and doesn't really like it. )

I'm guessing that if DD really wants that one, my MIL and my mom and I will all go in on it and buy it for her, and it will be her ONE birthday present. But it would be fantastic if we could find a similar dollhouse for less money, but that is still appropriate for a two-year-old. SOOOO.... all that to say, does anyone know of one?

Anne I LOVE that dollhouse....Can _I_ come over and play with it if you get it for Katie!?!?!? LOL!

Actually I think there are some "similar" dollhouses (like the Madeline dollhouse in Toys R Us) that might be cheaper....but I would say if she likes that one then go for it (bad influence, I know...heh). Hey maybe it will go on sale before her birthday. One can always hope!

Hi Anne,

Nice dollhouse!

Katie playing with the dollhouse reminds me of Adam always wanting to play with the Thomas train sets whenever he sees them. We ended up getting him a knockoff for MUCH cheaper, and it's worked just fine. I'm sure you could find a cheaper dollhouse somewhere that Katie would like and if not, I'm sure she'd be very happy with it as her single bday present.

My Daughter Alyssa loves her doll house I got her for her 2nd birthday. I got it at TRU for I believe about 79 or 100$..IT is the Loving Family Doll House..
Here she is playing with it

It recomends ages 3-6..but when you buy the rooms, if you take the tiny pieces out then it is totally safe!

Brigit is two and she has this dollhouse from Small World Toys:

http://www.learningexpress.com/child...6380/proj.html

It's half the price of the one you like, but doesn't come with furniture or dolls. We bought her two room's worth of furniture and the doll family and plan to buy her more furniture for presents as she gets older.

It's a wonderful dollhouse, very well built and definitely worth every penny. And it has tons of cool add-ons so it can grow with a child for years.

Usually some of the furniture and doll sets can be bought on ebay (search for "Ryan's Room" and see what you can find.)

Funny you should say that, because when we were at PBK last, I was thinking of Adam and WISHING I had been there before his birthday. They had their little wooden *service station* thing (with the lift, gas pumps, etc. - so cute!) on sale from $90 to $22! I *almost* bought it for you, thinking I could take it back if you didn't want it, but I wasn't sure when I'd get down your way again to give it to you!

Thanks for the links, Kathleen and Jayne. And Tara, you can come over and play with the dollhouse and with Katie anytime!
