Wedding Invitation Question

My mom recently was invited to a wedding. On the invitation, it says "Presentation" under the reception information. Any idea what that means?

My only guess is that it is implying the bride and groom will be formally presented at the reception. Either that or you're going to do a champagne toast to a time share presentation.

I am thinking it might mean they have to present the invitation upon entry to show they are invited guests??

I can't think of any other reason why it would be there

I surely hope its not that there will be a time share presentation like Bridget suspects

Would they be having some sort of photo slideshow or presentation? I can't think of anything else...

I thought it was a polite way to ask for cash. I googled it and got this response:

Is it rude to write "presentation" on my invitations? Every family is different. In Manitoba, it is often considered rude if the couple had a "social" where they specifically ask for money. Many guests expect to see presentation these days as couples have often lived on their own or together and may even have a house. A nice way to phrase it would be "Presentation Graciously Accepted", implying its the preference. In any case, guests who are not comfortable with presentation will bring a gift regardless.

Thanks Bev, that's what my mom thought. It's interesting that the response that you quoted mentioned Manitoba because the wedding is in Saskatchewan. It must be a regional thing. And yes, Mandi, very ballsy!

I would like to say I'm shocked but I've been invited to enough weddings and showers that didn't skirt around it but were formally engraved "MONEY ONLY" but I am kind of shocked it's a cash bar on top of being asked to give money...ya, that invite would already be lining the bird cage
I would skip the wedding and go out to the Keg for dinner and drinks

OMG, my mouth is sooooo on the floor. I'd skip the wedding as well. Between asking for cash and having a cash bar --- totally TACKY!!!

Weddings are not about gifts they are about celebrating a union. PERIOD. Gifts are just that --- additional goodies a guest may want to give the couple.

I can't imagine asking for money. That is just crazy. Not to mention the Cash Bar. Totally unheard of here. So tacky.

I know we've talked about these regional differences before...so one region's norm is another's shock. But it still fascinates me! I can't imagine having cash bar written on an invitation (even if it ends up being a wedding w/ a cash bar) or money gifts only being written.

Yeah, why draw attention to a cash bar? People will find out soon enough when they get there.

Isn't it considered a to even put registry information in a wedding invitation?

WOW, I'm shocked to say the least. Glad I've never heard of 'presentation' before.
