Post-partum hair loss

This is my third child but the first time I've lost hair after giving birth. I am pretty sure I've heard that it's common. Did this happen to you? How long did it last?

No, that isn't weird. That is exactly the point that my hairloss started, the scary thing is it didn't let up until about 16-18 months PP. But, I never thought my hair looked thin.

Mine didn't kick in until the 4/5 month mark, either. And man, I shed a ton!! And it lasted a few months.

I'm losing tons of hair. I have to clean the bathroom counter every time I brush my hair. I've always had lots of hair but never the hair loss. I'm thinking that it's a hormone thing.

I lost a ton of hair post-partum with David. It's totally normal.

Mine didn't start until about 5 months PP either and it's still going (at 10 months PP). It is slowing down though.

Mine started at 3 months PP, and lasted until about 5 or 6 months PP.

I think mine started sometime after 3-4-5 months PP with both boys, and lasted until almost 12 months. Hated it!

I lost a ton too, fortunately I have a ton of hair and could stand to lose some! It started around 5 months, and didn't stop until Jackson was nearly a year old. I lost most of it in the front, and still have short peices around my face from it. I even went to a new hairdresser when Jackson was about 15 months old, and she asked me if I had recently had a baby...she said the short peices in the front was an obvious sign.

I have those crazy short spots too, Michele. When I pull my hair back, they all stick out and make me look like a fuzz head.

Third time shedding here... Mine started when I got my period again, which was early since I didn't BF... about 9 weeks PP and is still going on, but at a much reduced pace. It was handfuls of hair for a while, now it is just lots of strands. I remember it was over by the time the other girls were about 7 months old. I had the short spots with Caroline, don't remember if I did with Court, and so far don't with Tatum.

Yes it's normal. I lost clumps of hair with all the kids but I don't remember how long it lasted.

I am a 3rd time shedder too!.. I have this so chronically after every child that we have Draino in the cupboards at all times because our showers pipes get so badly clogged with my hair that it stops the flow and we have to send draino down there to unclog it all

I hate it because I have so much baby hair underneath my hair when I tie it up its like I have a whole other hairdo under there

I never stopped losing hair after having Aiden but after having Riley I stopped when he was around 13 months which happen to be around the same time I stopped breastfeeding. I went through Jacobs whole pregnancy with out hair loss and the first 2-3 months PP with out it but then it started happening again and now I am a walking shedder, my hair is everywhere it drives us ALL insane. I find my hair wrapped around the oddest things... I will just leave it at that.
