Clomid and OPKs.

Okay, so I took 50mg of Clomid CD 3-7. According to my past cycles, FF gives me an O anytime between CD13 and CD16.

I used an OPK on Thursday night (CD13 ) at 7:00. I got a +
I took one again on Friday afternoon (CD14) at 1:45. I got a +
I took another one again Saturday(CD15) at 2:30. I got a +

What is the deal? Why am I getting so many +++? They are all very clearly positive. There is no second guessing if one line is maybe lighter than the other. They are all 3 the same color.

Technically, the surge can happen anytime from 12-48 hours. So, according to the time span that you have listed - you do fall within 48 hours.

Hope you were able to get your TV viewing in.

Suzi knows a lot about all this TTC stuff - you could probably ask her.

Lynn, I have a friend on clomid and she told me she can't use the OPKs because they always come up positive. She didn't know exactly why though. Just thought I'd share and you could ask your doctor.

I read about the false positives and it said to wait several days after taking your last dose of clomid to take an opk. I figured that almost a week, you'd be okay.

Quote:
Q: Does Clomid cause problems with OPKs?

A: Clomid (Serophene/clomiphene citrate) can cause a false positive in OPKs if taken too soon after finishing the prescription. According to most of the manufacturers you should wait at least 3 days before using an OPK. If you take Clomid days 3-7 you can begin testing on day 10. If you take it 5-9, you should wait until day 12.
That was from: http://www.fertilityplus.org/faq/opk.html

So, I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it just means that you had the LH in your system the whole time and this is it! :

This always happened to me - no matter how many days I waited. I would get + test results. Then later in the cycle when I had my bloodwork done, it would always come back really low - no possible way I ovulated. I hope that yours are true results! Good luck!

I took it 6 days before I started OPKs so yeah - I'm thinking it was just a LH surge. Hopefully I did in fact O. We'll find out soon enough
