Smile Kustom Korkers!!

Finally taking the plunge....I started playing around with making my own korkers earlier this fall, and get so many compliments on them when we are out and about, I decided to offer them here!

I use 100% polyester ribbon in all my korkers, and stick to 3/8", 5/8" or 5/16" widths. Some korkers are all satin ribbons, some grosgrain, and some a mix. They are all attached securely to 50mm alligator style barrettes (the kind where you pinch the end and it releases). I cover the barrette with a length of ribbon to match the korker, and the cuts are attached with hot glue and wire to the barrette. The cuts are 3" long, and each korker has 24-30 cuts. The ones Emily wears have been pulled on by Molly and her 1 year old cousin, without coming apart, so I know they are secure!!

I'm going to post pictures of all the ones I've made, as well as several that I have complete and ready to ship out! I have lots of ribbon here at home, and if you want a color combo I don't show, let me know and I'll work to find the colors you want.

Prices are $7 for a pair, or $4 for a single korker, plus actual shipping. For shipping, I will pack each pair or singlet in a ziploc baggie with added air (so they don't get smashed), and then in a padded envelope. Priority shipping for that would be $3.85. I'm also starting to take orders for holiday themed korkers!

Watermelon/Holiday Korkers

I made these to go with a watermelon dress Emily had this summer, and they'll also work for the upcoming Christmas season!! This includes cuts in red grograin, red picot edge satin, green picot edge satin, and black & white gingham polyester (not satin & not grosgrain, but similar in feel to the grosgrain)

Fall Korkers

These are what Emily calls her "Tony bows" (Tony Stewart), but the colors also work out well for fall!! The orange ribbon is grosgrain with a white "stitch" edge, the black is a picot edge satin, and the white ribbon is a sheer organza with solid edges.

Pastel korkers

These are all satin, in pale pink, light blue and yellow, and the white ribbons have polka dots in the same colors.

Summer brights!

These are probably my favorites, because they go with so many of her outfits. Also the largest korkers I've made, using 36 cuts. I used 3 different types of ribbon: picot edge satin, grosgrain, and organza; in 2 colors: bright pink and yellow.

More fall korkers

Here's another pair I did that would work well for fall. The orange is a grosgrain with yellow polka dots, and I used two different yellow ribbons, a grograin and organza.

Candy corn korkers--ready to ship!

Another pair that I have ready to ship out. These are made of yellow & white grosgrain, with a really cool satin ribbon that is yellow on one side and orange on the other, with contrast "stitching" along the edges. When I wrapped the ribbon, I made several with the orange on the outside and then did the rest with yellow, so there is a mix in each korker. These have 26 cuts in each one. $7/pair

Shades of green single korker-ready to ship!

This is a single korker I made to use up the last of the ribbon. Also one of my favorite color combos, using 3 different shades of green in 3 different types of ribbon. The dark sage is grograin, there's a lighter sage in the organza with satin edges, and the lightest is a silvery sage satin grograin (it photographed white, but is really a silvery sage green). This korker has 19 cuts. $4.

Cinderella korkers

E calls these her "Cinderella bows" since they match a Cinderella shorts set, as well as a couple summer dresses. For these I used a pale yellow picot edge satin, a brighter yellow grosgrain, a dusty blue organza with satin edges, and the silvery sage green satin/grosgrain that is in the above "shades of green" korker.

"mini" korkers

I've also made a pair of smaller korkers, on 40mm barrettes, with 12-14 cuts in each. These are cute for smaller toddlers (if Molly's hair would only grow!!) and when I just pull the sides of E's hair back.

This particular set is using 2 shades of purple in two different ribbons. The light purple is a picot edge sating, and the amethyst is in both picot edge satin and satin edge organza. I would sell these at $4.50/pair.

For comparison, I put this one next to the Cinderella korker

I wanted to show a side view of the barrettes I use; these pictures were taken of the shades of green korker which is on a 50mm french clip (only the smaller purple korker is on a smaller clip, the rest are all on this length).

ugh...it's blurry, but I think you can make out what it looks like!

If anyone is interested in some Gymboree M2M korkers, let me know! I ordered ribbon yesterday for Aloha Wahine and Tyrolean Lure, and can get ribbon to match most other lines.
