BahaCoca specialises in organic handmade and hand finished babywear and accessories.

The materials used include:
*100% pure certified organic Merino wool grown in the South Island of New Zealand for the woollen handknitted pieces. This wool is unbelievably soft - no scratchiness!!
(Merino wool is renowned for being an incredibly strong fibre that retains - and increases - its softness and snuggle factor over time. It has excellent insulating capabilities and is often referred to as the *Wonderwool* as it retains heat in Winter, breathes and cools in Summer and can hold up to 30% of its weight in moisture without feeling wet.)

*Where the wool has been dyed, I have only used non-toxic and edible dyes and dye fixatives, to miminise the risk of any skin irritation. Great for the environment, and great for sensitive baby's skin!

*Beautiful paua (New Zealand abalone) shell has been used for buttons...the paua is farmed in a cruelty free environment (think free range chickens, but for abalone ).

* The cotton yarn used is colourgrown cenrtified organic yarn from Peru. Colourgrown cotton is naturally coloured, and the tones deepen with use and washing...divine! This cotton is buttery soft and has a beautiful handle.

* We also use bamboo yarn - yes, from actual bamboo plants! The plants are pulped and mashed before being formed into a thread, which is woven into the tube that becomes the dye. Low-impact dyes are used.

*Cotton clothing and fabric has been sourced from India, Egypt and the USA. It is all certified organic, and seriously the softest fabric you are likely to ever encounter.

*The embroidery threads used are 100% natural cotton that are dyed using low-impact, colourfast dyes.

*All seams are sewn with 100% organic cotton thread, and wherever possible, natural rubber elastic and nickel-free snaps have been used.

*All knitted pieces are knitted by hand.

*All embroidery is done by hand, by me!

There is a website currently under development, but my intention is to offer goods here at a discount to what they will retail for online. This is in part a thank you to the amazing friends and *family* I have made at OUAL (and its former incarnations ), who have been an extraordinary support to me through some pretty dark times, and to whom I am eternally grateful, and partly in a ruthless attempt to do some market research and figure out what works and what doesn't!
