Infertility Success ~ Share your story here.
I think we could all use a place to come read about other success when we feel like we may never get there.
Please share the following: (1) How long you were TTC (2) What you diagnosis was (3) What meds you were on (4) What procedures did you try (5) When did you know you were PG? (6) Any other details you'd like to share If you could sprinkle some baby dust for us it would be greatly appreciated. Does anyone have some stories to share? Please? |

How long were you TTC?
This is a tough question for me to answer accurately. Before TTC I charted for many months and brought those charts to my doctor...based on those charts she agreed I wasn't ovulating and sent me for bloodwork. Based on the bloodwork we were immediately referred to an RE. We never TTC'd on our own--and actually moved up our TTC date because of the problems that were discovered. We *only* TTC'd under the care of an RE. Diagnosis I was diagnosed with Syndrome X--very similar to PCO and includes insulin resistance and my husband's sperm analysis revealed a high degree of viscosity (Male Factor IF). My RE was shocked with the degree of insulin resistance that I have--one of the worst cases he has ever seen...and considering he does research on this subject, he has seen MANY cases all over the world. Medications 2000mg Glucophage XR, 50 mg Clomid, and an hCg injection Procedures My husband had a sperm analysis and based on those results, we moved to IUI very quickly--his viscosity made traditional BDing very ineffective. For IUI cycles, my RE does two IUIs on back to back mornings. When did you know you were pregnant? I received a VERY faint positive HPT at 14 dpo (13 dpiui)...so faint that I wasn't sure the line was even there. I had a blood draw on that day and it came back at 37!! Definitely pregnant! Anything else? Do NOT feel as though you need to TTC on your own unsuccessfully for a year before seeing an RE!! Trust your gut instinct. I *knew* there was something wrong and nobody believed me at first--not even my husband. It took months of charting (before officially TTC) before I could convince my husband that something was wrong...and once we showed those charts to my doctor, things moved very quickly. |

Please share the following:
(1) How long you were TTC - we tried/not tried over a year before we were successful. I had a history of miscarriages and lost three pregnancies before my successful one. (2) What you diagnosis was - the only conclusion my RE reached was perhaps I had a progesterone problem. I received twice weekly progesterone injections (yeow!) until I was 9 weeks pregnant, and my levels without accounting for the supplement was never above 25, so the shots definitely helped. (3) What meds you were on - progesterone till 9 weeks and baby asprin throughout (4) What procedures did you try - I had an HSG performed to be sure there were no issues with my uterus that could be causing miscarriages. The plan was when we were TTC I would go in for an hcg trigger right before ovulation and after a positive pg test start progesterone injections. (5) When did you know you were PG? When my period was a day late We had not been trying for awhile since I knew that when it was time to try we were going to really go at it, since I didn't want to waste shots. I called my RE and started the injections the next day.(6) Any other details you'd like to share - I agree with Sarah, don't wait if you know something is wrong, go see someone who is an expert. |

Please share the following:
(1) How long you were TTC - I had an unplanned pg in May 2002 and miscarried in July... We were TTC ever since so about 16 months... (2) What your diagnosis was - After many cycles of temping and charting and a month being folled by a RE it was determined that I was not ovulating and that I most probable have PCOS. They informed us that our first pg was a fluke or luck... (3) What meds you were on - I had taken Provera and had a Progesterone Oil shot to bring on af...but what actually made me ovulate was 50 mg of Clomid. (4) What procedures did you try - Dh had a s/a done before we tried any procedures on me... He came back fine so it was definitely me...The only real procedures I had done were u/s to see and chart the growth of my follicles... and many blood draws.. (5) When did you know you were PG? I had a good feeling that that cycle was good for us... I tested at about 10 DPO. (6) Any other details you'd like to share - I also agree with Sarah, don't wait if you know something is wrong, go see someone who is an expert right away. You are your best and biggest advocate make sure you get answers and make sure some is listening to you... if you feel like you are not getting the care and assistance you deserve change md's... Also- I truly believe not stressing or thinking about it... I know much easier said than done. Honestly the cycle we got pg, I did not think about it nor stress out and tried to mentally relax... |

(1) How long you were TTC Tim and I started trying in September of 2001. We finally got our BFP in October 2003. (2) What you diagnosis was After charting for several months, we realized that I didn't Ovulate. Also, Tim and an s/a done, and it came back on the low side. (3) What meds you were on 50 mg. Clomid (4) What procedures did you try None (5) When did you know you were PG? I was convinced that AF would be arriving at any time, but took a HPT so I didn't get my hopes up. I was charting, and my temps were still up.... so I though, what the heck! I ended up with a BFP! (6) Any other details you'd like to share Don't give up!! Make your doctor's listen to you, and do lots of reaserch. ~*~*~*~*~*~* Baby Dust!! ~*~*~*~*~*~* |

(1) How long you were TTC
We started ttcing after our wedding, I think our first cycle started in 5/02 (2) What you diagnosis was I have stage II endometriosis. (3) What meds you were on Just clomid, 50mgs (4) What procedures did you try I think the procedure that really made the difference was the lap to remove the endo. Two months after that we did an IUI w/ clomid and it worked. (5) When did you know you were PG? I didn't really have any sypmtoms that were different than all the other months. I was a little tired, but nothing too bad. So at 11 DPO I tested, mostly to verify that I was right and not pg. But surprisingly two lines came up right away! The 2nd line was really faint but it was definately there. (6) Any other details you'd like to share I think what helped me deal was being very aggressive and finding a great doctor. I definately agree that if you know something is wrong there really isn't any reason to wait. Be firm and if the first doctor doesn't listen then find someone who will. Being very educated helps too. |

1) How long you were TTC: Started in July of 2002
(2) What you diagnosis was: PCOS (3) What meds you were on: The nurse practioner put me on bcp for one month to jumpstart my ovaries. It was a hail mary and it worked. (4) What procedures did you try: None (5) When did you know you were PG? When I took the HPT and had two lines. I had taken so many in the past year that I wasn't getting my hopes up. (6) Any other details you'd like to share: Just what everyone else said. Trust yourself. The nurse practioner that I saw was horrible and I was getting ready to call a RE because I wanted to have a baby. Don't settle for subpar treatment from any medical care worker. |

(1) How long you were TTC: I stopped BCPs in January, 2001 and got pregnant in June, 2003. I started meds in October, 2001.
(2) What you diagnosis was: I didn't ovulate on my own. They think I have an atypical form of PCOS. (3) What meds you were on: We did 7 cycles of clomid, 2 cycles of injections with IUI (the 2nd got cancelled due to hyperstimulation), and 1 cycle of IVF. (4) What procedures did you try: I had an HSG, we did IUI, and finally IVF. (5) When did you know you were PG? I took an HPT 12 days after my egg retrieval and it was +++. I had my confirmation blood test 16 days post retrieval. (6) Any other details you'd like to share: I knew from the time I was in college that I would have to take meds to get PG. I think this made things a bit easier for me. The process was definitely stressful and discouraging at times. I think that having a supportive husband and a positive attitude helped me alot. Lots and lots of baby dust to all who are trying! Amanda |

How long were you TTC?
A little under a year Diagnosis I was never given a specific diagnosis. After several blood tests and months of charting which showed I rarely Oed on my own, I was put on clomid Medications clomid 50 mg and then 100 mg Procedures None When did you know you were pregnant? My temps stayed up and I tested and got a about 14DPO. I was really bummed, but John hadn't given up hope. I tested and got a the next dayAnything else? Just don't give up. And like others have said, if you feel something is wrong, make them check. I was not willing to try for over a year before seeing the doctor because I KNEW there was a problelm. |
