Resumes

How much info do you put on your resume? How far back do you go with your job experiences? 5 years, 10 years, more?

You're supposed to put 10 years, unless you have major things to detail.

It depends - include anything that's relevant to the job you are applying for. I go back about 15 years on mine.

Like Dennis, I use what's relevant to the position. I don't elaborate as much as I used to on the earlier positions but if I were to apply for a job in my field, I would include information from my first job in the field (about 18 years ago).

Agreeing with Dennis. My husband is a recruiter, so he spends all day looking over resumes. I'm shocked at how little he actually "looks" at them--he knows what to look for and skims over most stuff. Quite honestly, nobody ever reads the objective.

I just updated my resume, and he told me to get rid of stuff that I did right after high school. It depends how long you worked at a company, too--if you spent a long time there but worked your way up in the ranks, that's better than just eliminating it.
