Its gorgeous, Alyssa. I love the color - so light and airy down there.

Love that paint colour Alyssa!!

Our house is two levels, one completely above ground and the other half below. It's called a raised ranch. You come in the front door and either go up 8 stairs or down 8 stairs.

Our downstairs area is completely finished except for the laundry room. Some houses like ours aren't finished downstairs and I can't imagine not having the living space. Most of our living is down there. Computer room, family room and fireplace. There is also a spare bedroom and 3 piece bathroom.

Wow!! Those basements don't look like basements!! I would want that kind!! When I hear basement I think of dark, dreary, scarey places with mice.

Michele is an unknown quantity
We have a finished basement. About 600 square feet is finished, and there is also a big storage closet, and an unfinished part where the washer/dryer, workbench, oil tank, furnace, hot water heater etc. are.

It was finished sometime in the late 80s or early 90s, and I'm not a huge fan of how it is done. There is dark blue carpet and gray-ish/white-ish walls which make it look kind of dark down there. It is also cold down there as there is only one zone of heat in the house, and it doesn't heat the basement well.

We're planning on pulling up the carpets and either replacing them with lighter carpet or tile, and painting, and putting baseboard heat down there this winter.

Right now it is a playroom, but we're going to get new couches for the living room and move our current couches down there, as well as designate some office space for Scott.

This is a terrible picture, but it was taken when we were moving in. To the left is the storage closet.
