How important is a middle name?

I am thinking in advance for bubba no.2 and am wondering how important it is for the middle name to sound right or fit with the first name. I mean how often will they be used together? (Christening/Wedding/funeral).

Only asking because we really want to use Baydon as a middle name for a boy (after an older brother of mine who died from SIDS before I was born-we used Beth as a middle name for our Charlotte as she was DH's sister who died of SIDS).

Sooooooo to have Baydon as a middle name, I am worried about how it will go with our boy choices (yes...DH wants a B first name so he can be called BJ- we are Johnson)

Brady
Blake

I am leaning more towards Brady, but Brady Baydon seems a little much in the mouth.....but then again, how often would you call the child Brady Baydon...

See what I mean?

personally i don't find it terribly important. i don't even use tony's formal first name, never mind his middle name!

i say go for it, and i love brady, that was my #1 boy name if this baby was a boy

I think it sounds fine, and like you said, won't be used very often.

My MN is Marie, making me Valerie Marie, which is only about as annoying as Brady Baydon.

Middle names are important to us and are used alot. Everyone knows Madison's middle name and use it a good bit. When I was growing up I went from being Harmonie to Harmonie Lyn and eventually people just started calling me Lyn. If its not big deal in your area I dont see a problem.

Middle names are only important in our house when someone is in trouble! It's got to sound good when being yelled!

ie... ALEXIS NICOLE !!!! Pick up your toys please for the last time!!!

Harry Truman did fine without a proper middle name, I don't see why anyone else wouldn't.

I think it sounds find, but if you're really worried, why not stick another name in between? Brady Lawrence Baydon or Brady Merlin Baydon (hahahaha). It doesn't have to be a long name, a shorter one would probably work best.

I was going to make the same suggestion as Carol. If you're gonna have 3 names, why not 4? (Oh, and my dad has 2 middle names, and I thought it was really cool when I was little. )

I guess we could do that... Charlotte has 2 middle names- Beth Lee (granted they are short names)

How does this sound:

Brady Harvey Baydon Johnson?

(Harvey after Loj's dad who died 3 weeks before our wedding)

Hmmm... now i have to eee sounds after each other!!

I guess I have plenty of time to play around with it...I am not even pg yet!

Brandi will become famous soon enough
I think we are naming our girl Heather Hegge. It is two H's in a row. It's a family name that we want to use. I don't think it is all that important that it sounds great. I think that it is more important that you are using that name because of it's special meaning.

Angie,
I love the name Brady Harvey Baydon Johnson. I think it sounds nice and you are using 2 important names in your family !
My first name is Angel ....My mom's family all call me Angel Marie ( Marie is my middle name). My daughter's name is Brittany Ann Mechelle..But I only call her Brittany Ann when she is in trouble ...:supergrin
