Hello, I am going to introduce myself on this section of the board.
Name: Beverly
DH: Patrick
Age: 38
TTC#: 3
A bit about me: I had a very easy time getting pregnant and a very easy pregnancy and labour with Mason. I was 34 when I got pregnant and 35 when he was born.

When I was 36 I got pregnant again on my first cycle after getting AF when I stopped breast-feeding Mason at 13.5months. That pregnancy was a complete mole. I had to have 2 D&C and 12 rounds of chemotherapy (methotrexate) to get rid of it. I was diagnosed Mother's Day weekend in 2003 finished my chemo on Sept 16 2003. I was allowed to TTC in March 2004 due to my age and general good health and response to the chemo.

I moved twice in between all of this mess and am now settled in a new town with all my ILs around me and a new OB. I have not been successful so far in getting pregnant. On July 15 I had a bunch of blood tests done. Today I got the results.

I definitely ovulated the cycle before last but this past cycle I did not. My FSH was super high. My doc is now putting me on Clomid, I start tomorrow. I have a u/s on the 15 and 17 to check my follicles and then I have to use a POAS type OPK and when I get a surge I am to call him and we will do IUI. He will try that twice I think and if that doesn't work he's putting me on a drug called Pregnyl and then IUI.He isn't wasting time he said.

He is also doing another FSH test on me today (CD4) and a semen analysis on DH, just in case.

I'm very pleased he's taking quick action on this. He gave me a website: www.testsforless.com (http://www.testsforless.com) to order the opk's from.

I know nothing about any of this, so I am hoping to get some good advice.
He did say the chance of twins is 2-5% which is a lot higher than the chance of having a complete mole which is .0005-.001%. I beat the odds once, I'm hoping to do it again! Although DH might have something to say about that.

:wavey: HI Bev :) Please keep posting your progress... I cant wait to hear how things are coming along :hug99:

I took 100mg of Clomid and well... didnt have twins. They did check at 7 weeks with an ultrasound to determine how many babies were in there though.

All the best!

Hi Chantal! :) I had a u/s today. There is one egg on my right ovary that is .96cm or something like that. But I am only CD 10, so lots of time for egg making. :) My next one is th 17th. I met the nicest lady at the u/s. She has 2 boys from two ICSI procedures; one was a twin but lost the other one at birth, but they knew before hand they would. She had 9 IVF treatments altogether. But suddenly her DH's sperm went from 4 million to 80 million, so they are doing IUI this time.

Let's keep each other informed on here of the progress. :)

Hey Bev -- keeping in touch via this thread sounds GREAT to me :hug99:

That's great about meeting that woman :) Isnt it nice to hear successful stories like that. Too bad about that one twin though :( So very sad.

Ohhh TONS of Eggie Vibes for you for this week :) So, did your DH have sperm count issues too?

I have a friend currently going through the first stages of IVF -- they are supposed to be recovering her eggs this week... and fertilizing them - hopefully to implant them in the next week or so (not sure of exact timelines). Poor thing has been sick with all the hormone injections she has been giving herself :(

So - after your U/S... how does it work to then transition to the IUI?

Oh -- TODAY was the 17th (well, its after midnight now  therefore its really the 18th). How did it all go?

I have 7 days till I see Dr Reid - but I see Dr Ross (family Dr) on Friday to discuss the galbladder issue.

So on Tuesday I had the u/s and it was fantastic! I had two eggs on the left about 1.8 and 1.9cm. No mention of the one on the right that was .96 on Sunday when the ones on the left were non-existent. :) So today I POAS on the OPK and got a surge, so I'm having an IUI tomorrow!

Just as well, Patrick is working late nights and not getting home until midnight or so.

Good luck at Dr. Reid's. If you have to, I suggest having the gallbladder removed first. A guy I work with his wife was on gallbladder meds when she was pregnant and while the child is 'normal' is is absolutely unlike any of the others with respect to personality, skills, etc. He thinks it is from the meds.

Oh, I don't know about the sperm count but he had decreased motility. Not really bad, just decreased. I don't think the sperm is the issue, just my eggs or lack thereof. He's doing IUI just to get things moving and not take any chances. :)

Thanks Kate and Chantal! :) The procedure was very easy and didn't take long at all. Preparing the sperm took the longest. He almost wasn't going to do it because the sperm wasn't so great. There weren't many of them and of the ones that could swim, not many were in good shape. Only 4 or 5 per frame whatever that means. He said he didn't want to waste my money and wants to refer me to the Fertility Clinic 2 hours away for ICSI. So I said, It's only money and you only need 1 sperm, so what the hell. He is still going to refer me to the clinic in case it doesn't work.

DH said Well I got you pregnant twice before and it didn't take long, so I think it will work.

I hope so. :crossfing
