Okay, here is a little background. I have been embroidering blankets for people at church. I did twelve blankets last Christmas for one of our pastors for Christmas gifts for their family. I did not charge them anything. Unfortunately, I can not keep donating my time and money to everyone. I have done this also for several other things as well. Our MOPS group pays me $5 per blanket but I have to supply the fleece for the blanket as well as the time, thread, stabilizer etc for the embroider and the thread when serging the edges of the fleece for the blanket. I am losing money on this deal. I have seen several websites that charge $20-30 for embroidered blankets. I would love to be able to offer this to everyone at OUAL but I just can't keep the charges so low and think about even breaking even. I also make fun pillowcases for kids and embroider their names on them. I made some as the party favors for Emma's 2nd birthday. I also give them as gifts to the older kids when I give baby gifts. For example, a new baby is born at church. The family had another daughter that was two. I gave the baby an embroidered blanket and the older girl a pillowcase that had ladybug and butterflies on it with her name embroidered on it. For Halloween a couple of years ago, Emma's name was embroidered in glow-in-the-dark thread which is $30+ a spool.

Here is the question.... Would you be willing to pay more than $5 for an embroidered fleece blanket. Even at $5 I lose about $3 on each blanket. That wouldn't even cover my shipping and handling. I am not looking at making a ton of money just a little extra cash would be nice. Also, if I have to purchase a design for the blanket such as a ballet shoes embroidery design that can cost anywhere between $5 and $50 per design.

Are these even items that people on OUAL or even IRL would be interested in purchasing? If so, what would you be willing to pay for them? Each blanket, depending on complexity and me actually serging the blanket can take about 1 hour to complete. Pillowcases are about 30 minutes from cutting material to finished embroidered pillowcases.

One of the blankets I did last Christmas had 15 names on it. It took me over 2 hours to complete. Honestly, that blanket would have been well over $20 even though it was a ready made blanket. It had around 5,000 stitches per name and a lot of companies will charge per stitch.

Please provide me your feedback. If you would not purchase anything like this please let me know why as well, too expensive, don't like it whatever.

Thank you.

Hey Sabrina, do you have any pictures of any of them? It might help to see one to have an idea of what I'd pay.

Yeah, I'd have to see a picture too :)

I actually bought an embroidered fleece blanket as a wedding gift for my step-sister last June. I think it ran me around 25 dollars, with shipping extra of course. We're talking machine embroidery here, correct?? The blanket I ordered was normal sized, like a throw, and had a heart with doves on one corner with their names and wedding date.

I would be interested in ordering, if it was something I liked and could afford. They're perfect for wedding gifts, housewarmings and baby gifts

Yes, they are machine embroidered. Try this link to see if you can actually see them. I can't post pics to OUAL.

Great work, Sabrina!!

I would pay at least $10.00 for the pillow cases as shown and more if I could customise more, ie: add trim, specialty designs, fabrics, etc...

For the standard blankets I would pay $20-$25 and I would pay $30 for the surged ones. Again, paying more for more customized options.

PM me if you decide to sell them at OUAL or anywhere for that matter, I have 3 new babies in my family :)

I always serge the edges of the fleece. I just can't let a blanket go out of my hands without it being finished on the edges and this is honestly the fastest way of doing it.

I guess I was referring to the bit of difference I saw in the blue Pooh blanket when I mentioned the price difference.

Again, your work is excellent!!
