Usually, dh and I do our taxes through turbotax. Well, we found out over the summer that we owe the IRS some money(not a lot). In fact, our upcoming refund will be a lot more than what we owe. Will we have to do anything special this year? Can we still file on-line? Will the IRS just take its money and leave us the rest? Help!!!!!!!

DH the accountant says it depends on what this money you owe is from. Is it from a previous tax year? If so, you were supposed to pay it at the time and there might be some minor penalties. If you discovered somehow over the summer that you'll owe for THIS tax year (2003), then it will most likely just be deducted from your refund. This shouldn't affect your filing online at all.

How did you discover it? If it was a notice from them, they would post a date that you have to pay by. If it was your own discovery, they will likely figure it out down the road. I would proceed with this year's taxes as you normally would. They will catch up with you no matter what
