View Full Version : Cool Baby Shower Gift Idea
Nocona July 2nd, 2004, 12:04 PM I have no idea where to put this, so move it if you remember where the other baby shower stuff is, Sheila
Yesterday we had a surprise baby shower at work. The accounting department went in together for the gift. They usually give a GC that's worth very little... they are very cheap  This time, someone new came with an idea..
they took a clothesline and clothespinned clothes (in all sizes up to 2T), receiving blankets, bibs, etc. on it. It was priceless to see the mommy-to-be's face as she just kept pulling on this line and more and more things came out  It was a very cute idea!
Mandi July 2nd, 2004, 12:21 PM What an awesome idea! Of course, the only down side of that is if her baby grows faster (like Matthew did) than the clothes are for. But otherwise that's very cool! I suppose you could almost pin anything on the clothesline as long as it wasn't big or heavy.
kim July 2nd, 2004, 12:28 PM i saw a similar thing at a shower last winter, but they used a wooden drying rack and hung all the outfits off of that.
~Andrea~ July 2nd, 2004, 12:30 PM A friend did that for a few showers, including mine. I stole the idea and did it for another friend.
Cortney July 7th, 2004, 01:29 PM That's a cute idea! I may use that for SIL's baby shower in July!

just as a hint, I used safety pins to hold things on and the clothespins as decroative, because other wise the close tend to fall off as the reciever is opening them.
valeria73 July 12th, 2004, 05:22 PM This _is_ a great idea. I am planning my BF's shower next month and would love to use it. Do any of you think it would be weird to put something like "bring an (unwrapped) item of baby clothing to add to her clothesline" on the invites? (My inclination is just to buy all the stuff myself, so I know how it will look, but my DH would kill me if I spent that kind of $$ ).

I think I spent $50 on stuff (if that). You don't use all outfits and you seperate things. add some socks, baby wash cloths and it will be much bigger than you think without spending too much. Mine was almost 2x the length of my living room :blush1: I got a little carried away

valeria73 July 13th, 2004, 10:46 AM That is so cute! :) Thank you for the info. I think I will just do it myself (I can't trust my friends to buy cute baby clothes anyway. :) ).
