How do you get them to go to sleep on their own? I have been rocking Emma since birth, she is 2 now and I would love to have her go into bed awake and fall asleep w/o me rocking her? Don't get me wrong I do enjoy rocking her but it would make my nights a bit easier with 2 and I can't imagine rocking her to sleep when she is 10
Any tips?

I don't really know... This is another thing we plan to let Janelle end on her terms (along with nursing and co-sleeping) and right now, she seems to be doing it. 3 out of the last 5 nights she has asked to not be rocked and just go to bed with her elmo...we tuck her in, give her and elmo a kiss, and we can hear her talking for awhile...2 of the 3 nights she actually went to sleep, the other night she got up out of bed after 15 minutes or so and asked to be nursed. So she seems to slowly be working on growing up. :(

We used the techniques in the No Cry Sleep Solution. From rocking, we started laying with him. Then we sat next to him till he was asleep. Then we sat in his room. Then we sat outside his room. That is where we are right now. Before I had the twins, we actually got to the point where we could shut his door while he was awake and he'd go down on his own. Not anymore! Anyway....I think we spent a week or two or three on each step. Its not quick, by any means, but with patience, it does work.
Is Emma in your bed? A toddler bed? or a crib?
