View Full Version : Books LISA June 24th, 2004, 11:53 AM What are your toddlers fave books? kalynnsmom June 24th, 2004, 11:55 AM Kalynn likes anything with Elmo, Zoe or Blue's Clue's. But she really liked any kind of books. jstauffer June 24th, 2004, 12:51 PM Sean (17 months) doesn't really care for books. Sierra (3 years) loves Curious George, anything Mickey Mouse, 101 Dalmations, fairy tales, Dr. Seuss books, etc. Dawn June 24th, 2004, 10:21 PM Gosh, Alexia is a book worm. :read:  Seriously...there's not a book that she doesn't like. She 'reads' all her books...not one gets neglected! But her favorites for sure that I know of are: "How Do Dinosaurs Say Goodnight?"...this is the last book that is read to her every night before she goes to bed (she even knows all the words to this...and will read it with us, that's how much this has been read to her). "The Pokey Little Puppy", "Green Eggs & Ham", and her Dora books. LISA June 24th, 2004, 10:34 PM But her favorites for sure that I know of are: "How Do Dinosaurs Say Goodnight?" I just put a hold on this one at the library, Paige is really into dinasaurs :) Keep the suggestions coming, I need to pick up some books for the plane trip next month :) Dawn June 24th, 2004, 10:42 PM I just put a hold on this one at the library, Paige is really into dinasaurs :)Oh, great choice Lisa! I know she'll love this book as much as Alexia does. :) If I think of anything else that I forgot to mention, I'll let ya know! :) TtownAnne June 24th, 2004, 11:32 PM Caroline's current favorites are by a lady named Laura Numeroff - I call them "circle books" because the events go in a circle so that what starts off the book is how the book ends too. We have: If You Give a Pig a Pancake If You Give a Moose a Muffin If You Give a Mouse a Cookie If You Take a Mouse to School Alyssa June 25th, 2004, 12:57 PM Caroline's current favorites are by a lady named Laura Numeroff - I call them "circle books" because the events go in a circle so that what starts off the book is how the book ends too. We have: If You Give a Pig a Pancake If You Give a Moose a Muffin If You Give a Mouse a Cookie If You Take a Mouse to School Ooh - we don't have If You Take a Mouse to School. But we've read the others many, many, MANY times. ;) They are cute though. Aidan is like Alexia, he likes most everything. He goes to sleep each night "reading" and we can literally find him still in there "reading" HOURS later. Colin only likes one book, and there are many, many fights in our house between the boys for The Big Truck Book (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0312490852/qid=1088182566/sr=1-19/ref=sr_1_19/102-7920422-4843305?v=glance&s=books). chefkath June 25th, 2004, 01:05 PM I'm going to cut and paste my list from a similar thread I posted on a different board. Hopefully I don't mess it up, and all the links still work! Brigit has tons of favorites - far too many to list them all! But here is a good sampling of her recent and current loves: + The Tin Forest (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0525467874/qid=1074539515//ref=sr_8_xs_ap_i0_xgl14/104-6919437-6446335?v=glance&s=books&n=507846) + All the Frog and Toad (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/006023959X/qid=1088182209/sr=2-2/ref=sr_2_2/104-6919437-6446335) books - I never get tired of reading these, they're so sweet and funny. + Farfallina and Marcel (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/006623932X/qid=1088182274/sr=1-1/ref=sr_1_1/104-6919437-6446335?v=glance&s=books) + Hilda Must be Dancing (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0689847882/qid=1088182338/sr=1-1/ref=sr_1_1/104-6919437-6446335?v=glance&s=books)- another super fun book to read, lots of fun sound effects to make! + The Escape of Marvin the Ape (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0140565035/qid=1088182388/sr=1-1/ref=sr_1_1/104-6919437-6446335?v=glance&s=books) + All of Russell Hoban's Frances (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0064430960/ref=pd_bxgy_text_1/104-6919437-6446335?v=glance&s=books&st=*) books (except for Bedtime for Frances, since it mentions nightmares and spankings.) Brigit is sooooooo in love with Frances these days - and so am I. She's hilarious and so fun to read. Good thing, too, since we read her at least a dozen times a day! + All of the "Little Bear" (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0064440044/qid=1088181273/sr=2-2/ref=sr_2_2/104-6919437-6446335) stories (especially the original book, Little Bear; A Kiss for Little Bear; and Little Bear's Visit.) + Any Richard Scarry book - she loves them all. + Any of Ezra Jack Keats's books, especially The Snowy Day (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0670654051/ref=lpr_g_1/104-6919437-6446335?v=glance&s=books) and A Whistle for Willie (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0370007603/ref=lpr_g_1/104-6919437-6446335?v=glance&s=books) + All of the Olivia (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0689829531/qid=1088181408/sr=2-1/ref=sr_2_1/104-6919437-6446335) books, especially the newest one: Olivia and the Missing Toy + Madeline (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0670445800/ref=pd_bxgy_text_1/104-6919437-6446335?v=glance&s=books&st=*) and Madeline's Rescue + All of the Harold and the Purple Crayon (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0064430227/qid=1088181467/sr=1-1/ref=sr_1_1/104-6919437-6446335?v=glance&s=books) books + Any and all of Mercer Meyer's "Little Critter" series. We have about a dozen of them. (The only problem with these is that since they're just little paperbacks, they're not available at our library. But they're just about $4 each, so buying them isn't too painful!) + Anything by Don Freeman, especially Corduroy, (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0670241334/qid=1088181598/sr=2-1/ref=sr_2_1/104-6919437-6446335) A Pocket for Corduroy, Dandelion and Beady Bear. + Noisy Nora (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0140567283/qid=1088181624/sr=1-1/ref=sr_1_1/104-6919437-6446335?v=glance&s=books) by Rosemary Wells. + Ten Go Tango (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0060276908/qid=1088182733/sr=1-1/ref=sr_1_1/104-6919437-6446335?v=glance&s=books) + Snowmen at Night (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0803725507/qid=1088182626/sr=1-1/ref=sr_1_1/104-6919437-6446335?v=glance&s=books) + How do Dinosaurs Say Goodnight (http://www.onceuponalife.com/www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0590316818/qid=1074540839/sr=1-1/ref=sr_1_1/102-0713646-8265725?v=glance&s=books) and How do Dinosaurs Get Well Soon? + A Cuddle For Claude (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0525466916/qid=1088182671/sr=1-1/ref=sr_1_1/104-6919437-6446335?v=glance&s=books) + The Very Lazy Ladybug (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/1589253795/qid=1088182697/sr=1-1/ref=sr_1_1/104-6919437-6446335?v=glance&s=books) + Bringing Down the Moon (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0763615773/qid=1088182787/sr=1-1/ref=sr_1_1/104-6919437-6446335?v=glance&s=books) + Where Have the Unicorns Gone? I don't know why, but it cracks him up every time. It is the only book that he will actually pick up and bring to me to read. I think i am going to start bringing home a new book every week to see if I can get him more interested in books. I can't wait to try some of the ones in this thread! Dawn June 25th, 2004, 04:38 PM Caroline's current favorites are by a lady named Laura Numeroff - I call them "circle books" because the events go in a circle so that what starts off the book is how the book ends too. We have: If You Give a Pig a Pancake If You Give a Moose a Muffin If You Give a Mouse a Cookie If You Take a Mouse to School  Ah yes! How can I forget about these? She loves them! :) Barb June 27th, 2004, 05:46 PM Liam loves all of his books. His favorites change on a regular basis, right now his favorites are Where Is The Green Sheep; Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See; Green Eggs and Ham, and his Dr. Seuss A, B, C's book. Hannabanana June 27th, 2004, 10:10 PM I, oophs!, I mean Hanna loves Stella, Star of the Sea. I joined a book club just after Hanna was born & bought a great deal of Richard Scarey, Dr. Seuss and various other books. We have a big collection but I would have to say, any book with a little girl named Hanna in it is the biggest hit in our house. :supergrin Every night I read 4-5 books at bedtime to her and there are definitely some that I enjoy reading more than others. The Dr. Seuss books get on my nerves. Cherie TtownAnne June 27th, 2004, 10:43 PM OMG, we just got this from the library and Caroline loved it! I thought it was very cute. Where Is The Green Sheep |
