Do you have a DVD player?

As I sit here wondering what I am going to do with all my VHS tapes once my player goes out I started wondering how many of you have a DVD player?

We have two and have been buying only DVD's for awhile now. Do you think that VHS tapes are going to slowly go out like records did?

We have two, and I do believe that VHS tapes will go out of style eventually (or atleast it seems like they are going to with the new DVD camcorders).

We have one DVD player, and yes, I think tapes are going to go the way of cassettes - not exactly disappear, but just not as useful, KWIM?

we got our first as a Xmas present three years ago ... it started in the TV room ... but since i don't really like that room ... and i would rather watch DVD's in bed ... we moved it to the master bedroom ...

fast forward ... hubby wants to watch DVD's in the TV room ... DVD's are now dirt cheap ... so this Thanksgiving weekend ... he picked one up for the TV room ...

then ... i pipe in with my "oh it would be nice to have a DVD/VHS in my office ... so that after i watch my soaps and there is nothing else on ... i can watch a DVD while i am working" :rolleyes:

i agree that VHS tapes are on the way out ... we no longer buy them ... i only record my soaps on them ... and i am sure that as soon as the price comes down on the recordable DVD players ... my office unit will be replaced ...

anyone wanna buy some Beta tapes :lol: ... yes ... i still have those and an old Beta player ... crap ... i have just now shown my age :lol:

We have one player in the bedroom and we use the PS2 in the living room. I think that VHS tapes will very soon be like casssettes, never bought and the new releases sometimes not even released on them. I haven't bought VHS is many years now.

We have one as well. I agree VHS tapes are going to fade away, especially as more people get DVRs/Tivos and DVD recorders.

We have one that is a 3 disc player. DH got a new surround sound for Christmas but MIL is a friggin idiot and did not buy the one with a DVD ( but bought one for FIL at the same time) :doh: so we are going to be purchasing a new one with my bonus check for the living room and move the 3 disc one to our bedroom. We still have a VHS VCR in our office and bedroom.

Mrs Shae- I also have beta tapes still..... mine are of My Little Pony and Care Bears though

We have one as well. We got it about a year and half ago for fh's birthday. I'd like to get a nicer one though and put the older one in our bedroom.
I think tapes will eventually go away, but for now we have a ton of movies on tape and still use our VCR just as much as our DVD player.

Yup, we have one DVD and it is in our living room. We still have 2 VCR's one in the living room and one in our bedroom. As much as I hate to say it I do thingk VHS will become obsolete. I really hope they don't completly get rid of VCR's thought because I have so many, mosst of my Disney movies are on VHS.

I think Video tapes are on their way out There is a few tapes where there is 100s of DVDs every where we buy our DVDs. I dont think it will be much longer before they are gone

We ahve one actual DVD player but both computers have DVD players in them and we also ahve a Xbox that plays DVd. so guess that makes 4 and we ahve 2 VCR's but we are mostly buying DVD's now

We have 2 dvd players, if you count the X-Box. I bought a cheap vcr a few months ago thinking I would record things on it, but I never used it, and now it's at my parents house in front of the Nordic Trak :) I think videotape will be on the way out as soon as recordable dvds are standardized.

We have one in the living room and then one in the computer..We also have a DVD writer..However..I have all my disney movies on VHS and while I can copy them over to DVD..I like having them in the cases and what not. I have a vhs/dvd writer thing..not sure what you call it. DH is a computer geek sota speak and so he is all about writing these things.

We just have one DVD player in our living room but I have been thinking about what to do with the VHS and the tapes. Since we got the dvd (over a year ago) I think I could count on one hand how many times we have used the VHS.

Yes, we have one in the bedroom and our laptops they both play DVDs. My problem with VHS being 'out' is that I spent many years collecting Disney movies (I have one too many now) and they're all in VHS. The latest ones I have are in DVD (Shreck, Montsers Inc, etc) :dunno:

Our first DVD player started jamming the disks in the drawer, and you had to d-r-a-g them out *shudder* It was 4 years old. DH went out and bought a new one the other day.

Our original DVD player was $799, it's a Pioneer, plays DVDs, CDs, VCDs.

Our new DVD player was $229, it's a Pioneer, plays DVDs, CDs, V-CDs, Super VCDs, MP3s, Picture Disks and JPGs, and came with 6 months free DVD rentals and a free DVD (Memento).

I told DH that we bought the other one too early!

Plus, we both have DVD drives in our computers now, and DH got a DVD burner for Christmas

I am glad I am not the ONLY one without a DVD! We rarely watch videos, so it's not been much of an issue, and our camcorder is VHS...but like Tracy, we've decided that we've held out long enough and are now just waiting for a good sale to get one.

We have a DVD player. DH has had it since before I met him. When they first came out he had to have one. Lucky for us its good quality and still works in perfect condition. We've been buying only DVDs since we started dating. The only tapes we do have are home videos.

Yep, we have a DVD player. I didn't really consider our PS2 as one, but we just got one of those for xmas too, so technically I guess we have 2.

Yes, I think tapes are going away eventually. They just don't have the durability or quality that DVDs do.

We have 3 DVD players. Two of them are in VHS combo units, one in the LR and one in our BR. My stepdaughter has a straight DVD player in her room and we have an old VHS player in the playroom. I do my exercise tapes out there and the kids watch VHS tapes out there too since we have like every single Disney movie on VHS but only 3 or 4 so far on DVD for them. We have bought quite a few DVD's for us though, probably around 40 or so. I just hate the thought of having to buy all of those Disney movies again just so they are on DVD...

We don't have an actual DVD player; we use our XBox and PS2 for playing movies.

We have a DVD player that we use as CD, DVD and MP3 in the living room. DH has DVD player in his computer.
2 VCRs... 1 in the living room and the other in the bedroom. I use the one in the bedroom for recording DAYS and other shows while I'm out. The one in the living room, DH records his Wrestling and we use it for movies from the library for DS... oh and all his Disney movies too! LOL

We just bought our second DVD player. Our first one is in our room and the second one is in the living room since it came with the surround sound system. We still dont have a VCR. My mom thinks we're nuts because she tapes everything.
