I am not sure where to post this so please move it if need be

I just got a frantic call from a pregnant friend of mine that her quad screen test came back postive for spina bifida. SHe is in tears and scared to death! Her OB said she wasn't worried at all and that her ultrasound came back fine. She is going to a another doctor to do more testing, just in case.
We did an online search and found that there is a high rate of false positives in this test.
Did anyone of you have a false positive? Or, did you have a positive and now have a child with spina bififda?

Anything anyone knows about this would really help me!! TIA :)

This is exactly why DH and I opted to skip the test - there is such a high rate of false positives. I don't know the exact number, but it's very substantial. My doctor told me that nearly all cases of spina bifida can be seen on regular ultrasound, so that was good enough for me!

This happened to one of my friends. She was pg and her test came back positive for spina bifida. They induced her early and she was perfectly normal. She's now a perfectly healthy 2 year old.
