I am from Southwest Michigan. I live in the Kalamazoo area and work in the Battle Creek area :)

Yup! Me, too... although I don't consider myself from Michigan, since I lived in Colorado longer than I've lived here.

I have lived in Michigan all my life. Grew up in Vassar and have lived in Saginaw for about 10 years now.

I've lived in Michigan my whole life as well. I grew up in Farwell (very small town north of mt. pleasant), went to college in kalamazoo and then Lansing, and we now live in Belleville, about 10-15 minutes from ann arbor.

From MIchigan here as well. I grew up in Brighton and then moved to Maryland after collage for 7 years and now moved back to Traverse City, if yo need any cherries let me know :lol:

We sooooo want this home. It's lacking just a couple things that we can live w/o, a 4th bedroom, a 3 car garage (has 2) & ceiling fans in the bedrooms. But it's got everything else that we want and it's in the sub that we really want to move to.

I posted on the other site as well, but I too grew up in MI but now live in NY. I'm from the Grand Rapids area and will be visiting next week! YAY! My family laughs at me, but what I miss most about MI is Vernors, Meijer, and the Purple Cow at Meijer for butter pecan ice cream. :lol: Just last week my DH was in MI for work and brought back 9 cases of Vernors. Now we have a good stash. Now if only NY had a $.10 bottle return like in MI :)

My parents still live there and my sister is in Taylor so we go home quite a bit. Wish we could move back someday. I would love to live in Okomos or the E. Lansing area again.

Kris: We are going to the Cherry Festival this year. My parents/brother/sis in law, nephews are coming up from Indy and we rented a house and we are so excited. My dad loves Michigan cherries and cant wait to eat them all week

No, Michigan (& the way we refer to it is funny).....Michigan is actually 2 separate peninsulas (pieces of land that are surrounded on 3 sides by water). When we say "up north", we mean anything in the lower peninsula that's north of the "thumb area". The UP is used to describe the "upper peninsula", which sits north of the straits of Mackinac. Hope that helps! I'd show you on my handi-dandi hand map, but that's hard to do if you're not in front of me. You'll have to ask DH if he knows how to do it & have him show you!

And I couldn't agree more, I am SO ready for spring to finally get here & stay!

Kris, I had to read that a few times, but now I get it. I used to work on a very small peninsula, but I didn't realize the mitt part of the mitt was considered a peninsula too! So it is the mitt part, north of the thumb! Way up by Sault Ste. Marie and such. :) Thanks everyone! Now if you could explain why the accent is SO CRAZY DIFFERENT from a place not 15 minutes away, that would be fantastic! :lol:

Kris - We used to go to TC for the Cherry Fest every year with a bunch of our friends, but then we all started having kids and we haven't been in about 3 yrs. It was a nice weekend away.

We will hit the Greek Fest here in Saginaw and Bay City has a ton of things going on in the summer, so we usually go there at least once.

well if you up for it this year the Blues Angels will be opening it I can't wait. It is like the best week of the summer for me except all the trunk slammers that are here.

Kalamazoo had a Greek festival this weekend, but we weren't able to make it since we were moving out of our house. It would have been fun though.

I've only been to the Cherry Festival one time, and I thought it was great fun. We should try to go again this year. When is it?

We'll probably go to the art fair at some point and we'll probably go to ren fest this fall.

I was just in MI (in Grand Rapids) at the beginning of June (and I cried alll the way back to NY! :cry: ). WHile we were there we went to the Festival of the Arts in GR. When we were younger we would go all the time so it was really cool for me to go again.

Is summer ever going to come? What a shitty week oops sorry for the word but it has been awful especially with the Cherry FEstival I was so looking forward to going with Emma but it is so cold and rainy.......

Finally, some nice summer weather! Yes, last week was bad, Kris. Some friends of our were in Charlevoix for the week and they only got out on their boat for 2 hrs the whole week! They were not happy. Now, if we only didn't have to deal with these severe thunderstorms they are predicting :rolleyes:

Last nights storms were LOUD. I think it is now too hot, or at least it was yeasterday. The bank down the road said it was 96 at 7pm!

I kept hearing the radio announcers come on and talk about the storms, but we didn't get one here. Did everyone make it through okay?

We aren't. We have got to find the time to get to once upon a child and buy my poor little man some clothes...he's been wearing basically nothing but pink/flowered onesies and sleepers for the past 2 weeks. He only has 2 or 3 boys outfits that fit him now, so we save those for when we leave the house...we just haven't had time to go shopping....he hit a growth spurt at almost exactly 3 months, he went to bed wearing a 3-6 month sleeper and that same sleeper no longer fit him the next night, along with the rest of his 3-5 month clothing. :blush:

I miss campus soooo much! I know I could never live anywhere else but NJ, but I always wish I could pick up East Lansing and drop in down a little farther east!

I'm going to MI this weekend, some Big family reunion we are staying at the grand Rapids east Radisson, then driving to Kalamazoo as my SO used to live there, and wants to visit friends. Any suggestions on things to do? what about the airzoo or whatever? My son is 2.

Nope that would be hard to go to the park everyday. I can hardly get out of my house at all.

Does Emmalee like the tent? I bought one for Emma and she is scared of it, not sure why though.

Kris, I lived in Hubbard freshman year, Holden sophomore year (can you say opposite?) on Charles Street junior year (sooooo close) and Snyder senior year (sooooo far...). I always envied those who lived in Shaw :lol:

It is amazing at how different things are at State when I return there. I graduated a mere 7 years ago (I was an older student obviously!) and the development is just so awesome!
I told DH that no matter what, we have to be back in MI by the time Aaron is in the 12th grade so that we don't have to pay out of state tuition! :lol:

Roger, my aunt and uncle lived near Troy, so I'm familar with the area. I live in Kalamazoo now, so we also know lots of WMU students/alum. :)

Hey guys! DH and I just moved back to MI a few weeks ago and can I just say I am *so* happy to be back? There is soooo much more to do here than in the rinky-dink town we lived in in NY!
And - how about a big cheer for both the men's and women's MSU basketball teams going to the Final Four! So awesome!
