Do you let your toddler use a knife?
In May I was chopping some stuff for a fruit salad for Mother's Day and Mason wanted to help. I gave him a butter knife, a chopping board and a banana. He LOVED it! So now I let him help me chop things. Mushrooms, peppers and stuff like that. I make sure he washes his hands first and then we eat whatever he chopped up.

Funny, all I could think of when I read this was that the only knife I've ever cut myself with was a butter knife. I cut myself with it twice and it hurt. Needless to say I'm not great in the kitchen.

As the Wiggles say, when you're making fruit salad always use a plastic knife and make sure there's a grownup present. :)
We haven't let Joe use a knife yet. Great that Mason likes it!

Janelle uses a plastic knife to cut up play dough, and we let her use a plastic knife while playing with cookie dough one day as well.

Oh my no. I have a bad enough time with knives. I guess I'm accident prone. There's no way my kids will be using knives anytime soon.

Jeez! I think plastic knives are way sharper than butter knives. Ours anyway. :)

No knives in the near future for my 2 - I don't even let them pick up a fork and try to eat with it.

I do. Supervised, of course, but she is pretty good with it. I also have her help chop mushrooms with one of those egg/strawberry/mushroom slicers. She LOVES it and it helps me, too!
