View Full Version : So, how many diaper bags do you have?!

This is my latest obsession...it's silly, but hey, it's harmless (or fairly, at least! :awink: ), right?
Since Rory was born, this is what I've had...
1) Eddie Bauer bag...still have it, and it's a great bag. It was my 'main' bag for quite awhile. I think that this will be going up for sale soon too...it hasn't been used recently at all! :blue:
2) Cherokee bag...I got this while I was in Florida, and I remember debating with myself, because I had trouble justifying a second diaper bag ( if I only knew then...). It was smaller, so it's a great bag for running errands and stuff like that. I currently have it listed on Kidswap...time to make room!
3) A bag I bought off Ebay...never used it, it went to a consignment store, and it didn't sell there (I don't think)...pretty sure it got donated somewhere!
4) Black GAP backpack...bought this as my bag for the 2 girls. It was a great bag, just too big for me. I sold it to Amy on the boards, and I think she's been happy with it!
5) A toile tote bag off Ebay...I got it, and then decided that the toile wasn't for me. I love the look of it, just not me carrying it! Shanna bought it!
6) An el-cheapo from Walmart...I'm currently using this, and it's great! It fits everything (and then some)...it's size is deceiving!
7) A Maclaren bowling bag...Kaari picked this up for me, and I just got it today. Bigger than I expected, but softer too. I really like it!
8) Made by Mandy...I have one in the works with her!
Yes, I love bags...purses, diaperbags...you name it, I love them all! Anyone else!?

Let's see what I can remember
1) I have several assorted freebee ones from the hospital from various formula companies.
2) I have a BIG diaper bag from Target or BRU that I got at a shower. That thing is huge, but I carried a lot of crap.
3) We have a black backpack style that we got at BRU. DH uses it as his diaper bag.
4) I have a red Amy Coe that I got on clearance at Target and have only used once. It doesn't work well.
5) I have a green dragonfly/ladybug one I bought off ebay.
6) I just got a navy MacLaren tote from TJ Maxx. It's really big so I don't think I'll be using it until we have #2, but I just couldn't pass up that deal! It's a really nice bag :)

 It never occurred to me to have more than one! I have a hard enough time keeping one bag organized - I'd be a mess if I had to switch around!
We got a Lands End bag as a free "baby gift" from Shawn's company when Brigit was born, and we've been using it ever since. It's probably a little small for two kids, so it's usually bursting at the seams - but it's good enough!

Wow! We have two: one very sturdy backpack and a VERY pretty chinese patterned one from my MIL. I feel bad that I never use it. She always sees us with our ugly, utilitarian backpack. But if I switch between the two, I'll forget something! Plus, I know I can throw the backpack around and it won't matter where it's thrown!

We have 4.
#1 - I got a Eddie Bauer diaper bag for my shower. I dont like it. It has all these dividers/compartments/pockets and its huge, but you cant fit much into it! Worthless!
#2 - Isnt really a diaper bag, but a very large Nine West purse. I used to carry it to work with my planner (pre-PDA) years ago. Works great to keep this in the car at all times with a cup, disposable bib, diaper, travel wipes, & anti-bad wipes for Aidan in case we are out & about & need something.
#3 - toile tote I got off ebay. I use this for the twins for our short excursions. I just toss my wallet in it and forego the purse. Its great if I am going to be out for less than 3 hrs.
#4 - Maclaren tote. This is my newest and its big. I got it to fit the stuff for all 3 kids when we have a long day out...like when we go to someone's house or the lake for the day.

We only have 3. The one we bought before Janelle was born (a back pack diaper bag), a small carter's bag we got at our shower for Janelle (this is the one we use), and the free one from the hospital when we had Caid (we gave the free ones from Janelle away).

My first was one of the free ones from the hospital. They gave me 2. Then I got an Eddie Bauer one and I didn't like it, so I just used a black bag that I had. Then I had a tote bag someone gave me as a gift and it had a plasticy liner inside it and I melted it in the dryer. Oops! Then I got one of the toile bags off of Ebay. I got 2 more plain black ones free from the hospital when Ava was born and used those for awhile and now I have a red Maclaren bowling bag which I like a lot. I'll probably go back to the toile bag when Ava's done with bottles. So that makes 9  . I was afraid to show the last one to DH when I bought it. He laughed at me and said another bag?

This is what we have, only bag I have, dh doesn't mind carrying it because it's plain black and doesn't look like a purse lol.

I'm with Kathleen, why bother to have yet MORE baby stuff to store or move around? We have the freebie from the hospital, and my mother bought me a big Snoopy diaperbag to match the pattern of the crib bedding, but that's all we have. Now that Caroline is older, I just use a regular backpack (like for school) to combine her diaper bag and my purse.
 It never occurred to me to have more than one! I have a hard enough time keeping one bag organized - I'd be a mess if I had to switch around!

we only use one at a time, but we've been through 4 and are on our 5th.
here we go:
2 freebies-used them until they died (didn't take long:) )
1 large eddie bauer (used at the same time as the freebies for longer outings/overnights)
1 backpack from BRU, last time i "submit" on letting dh pick out the diaper bag!
our current one is actually a small basic denim tote from the purse section at target
i plan on doing a tote like mandy makes or an ism/that type when #2 comes along and i become a sahm. right now dh refuses to let me spend the money on something he won't carry because it "looks too much like a purse" come on...i even offered to get a "manly" fabric!

Ooooh, I LOVE LOVE LOVE diaper bags/totes!! I used to be obsessed with purses, and now it's diaper bags. I have to avoid the diaper bag aisle at BRU or I'd be there all day.
#1) Huge Evenflo rectangular bag I bought before Emily was born...mainly used when we go on vacations or away for the weekend.
#2) yellow & blue Enfamil freebie from the hospital. It was OK, but it was round...stupid shape IMO for a diaper bag, so I sold it at our garage sale.
#3) Small Eddie Bauer bag I used almost all of last year, now is DH's diaper bag for when he takes Emily out by himself.
#4) The infamous Gap black backpack I bought from Jenn last August...I like it, but haven't carried it in a while because it's so huge and was becoming a 'black hole' of stuff. Will come in very handy this fall with both girls.
#5) pink & cream toile Ella bag I got on Ebay for Valentine's Day. LOVE this, but I don't think it's big enough for all day outings with two girls...maybe once Molly isn't blowing out her diapers every hour on the hour it'll be fine. Makes a gorgeous tote bag for me, so not a total loss!
#6) black messenger style Enfamil freebie from the hospital when Molly was born. LOVE this bag, just wish it had two bottle/sippy cup pockets and not one.
Currently wanting a tote type bag...LOVE my Ella, but I want something bigger but sleeker....might have to get with Mandy and see what we can come up with!!

Ok, I need to drag my dh here to read this thread - he thinks it's silly to have more than one diaper bag! :disbelief As if!
I don't have a very big collection (due to aforementioned dh), but here's what I've got:
1. Black Gap tote - I got this at the Gap outlet for $15 and it has been my primary bag since Jackson was about 6 or 7 months old. I like the way it opens like a doctor's bag and it has lots of outside pockets. It's a good medium size, but is now a bit big for just Jackson.
2. Black BabyTrend ActivPak backpack - This thing is huge and is our travelling bag; it's a perfect carryon bag for flying. This was my primary bag when Jackson was little and I carried everything but the kitchen sink.
3. Yellow & blue Enfamil freebie - never used; it's being sold in our garage sale.
4. Blue messenger (I can't remember the brand; it's from BRU) - I got this as a baby shower gift and used it maybe twice. I hated it! It sat in Jackson's closet until last week. I was going to sell it in the garage sale, but discovered the gift receipt inside of it and returned it to BRU last week for store credit! :woo:
I'm now debating about getting a large-ish tote for when this baby is born, but I really hate carrying a big bag so I'm not sure what I want to do.

Uh Oh, this is going to make me look like I'm as obsessed about diaper bags as I am about strollers. Well I am, actually:)
1) Hospital Enfamil bag (used in the first couple of weeks)
2) Land's End Deluxe Diaper Bag (huge, good for overnights & weekends away)
3) Land's End backpack (used once or twice)
4) Land's End Little Tripper (hate it, it's beat-up, but can't bring myself to actually throw it away)
See a 'phase' here???
5) ISM Summer Bounty (toile stripe) size large tote (sold it)
6) ISM Dragonfly size XL tote (sold it)
Another 'phase'?
7) Fleurville Mothership in pink stripe (sold so I could get a purple swirl one)
8) Fleurville Escape Pod in blue chocolate (exchanged for a purple swirl one)
9) Fleurville Mothership in purple swirl (current bag I keep in the van and love)
10) Fleurville Escape Pod in purple swirl
11) Wrist bags for both Motherships (pink stripe & purple swirl)
12) Eddie Bauer bag (smaller) that I ended up returning
Too many?

We have one big black one and one small black one. If I remember correctly, the small one came with the big one -- both from Target.

I think I remember 6.
2 were freebies from formula companies.
I got one for a shower gift that was red, blue and green. Someone thought the primary color scheme would entice my DH into carrying one. :rotflmao:
I bought one myself very early in my pregnancy. It has *Pat the Bunny* on it and came with the book. I've never used it. And never will.
I also have a little lunch bag size that worked great for two diapers, wipes and few other things. Good for errands. Now I just keep a few diapers and some wipes in the car.
Then I found the best bag in the world. On sale through Oldnavy.com for $15. It's black and very stylish. It has lots of storage places for wipes, bottle, wallet, cell phone plus four pockets on the outside. It's a square bag with a nice closing zipper on top. It also came with a change pad. It's the only bag that I still use and still love.
