Hey all,
I was just wondering when you switched your toddler from the crib to a big kid bed?

We got Tyrus a toddler bed for his second birthday. :)

Jack is 2 1/2 and he's still in his crib. We've tried the big bed but he just won't go to sleep by himself in it.

Matthew was 17 months.

Maggie was just over a year old. She had a really hard time with the crib (and rarely slept in it)

If at all possible, I plan to keep Katie in her crib much, much longer.

Micayla was about 14 months. She wouldn't sleep in the crib. It worked out nicely since we had #2 when Micayla was 15 months so we didn't need to buy another crib.

We moved Sierra when she was about 16 months old. She wasn't sleeping much in her crib anyway.

Sean is 17 months old and I intend to keep him in his crib as long as possible.

We're in both and Lexie is almost 2 1/2 years old. She loves her crib and seems to move around SO much during the night. She has a toddler bed down the shore, but I have to make sure I have the bed rail up.

Joe is 2 1/2 and still in his crib. He's perfectly happy and sleeps great so no reason to mess around. It converts to a toddler bed (the front side comes off and you put on a rail) so at some point we'll do that.

Riley was close to 13 months.

In about 3 weeks, when it arrives. :) She's outgrowing the crib, lengthwise, so it's time simply for comfort's sake if nothing else.

Alexia's 26 1/2 mos and she's still in her crib. She sleeps fine in it, doesn't try to climb out, etc. Hers converts to a toddler bed so whenever the time comes we can always do that. I plan for her to convert to the toddler bed sometime before baby #2 comes.

Well, at 9 months we moved her to a futon on the floor. We just moved her last week to a toddler bed, making more floor space in her room since we'll now have her sisters' toys in there, too! She's 2 and a half.

We put Eliot in his toddler bed when he was 18 months and changed him to his twin size bed (with a rail) at 2 1/2 yrs old.

Morgan got her double sized bed when she was 17 months old.

My niece was moved into her todler bed at 18 months and love it. Now she sleeps thru every night!

We tried Rebekah in a twin bed right around her 2nd birthday. She wouldn't stay in it for more than 1/2 hr and wouldn't go to sleep by herself. So the crib went back up and she's still in it (at 28 months). The bed is up, too, and she never asks to sleep there.

We moved Cameron to a "blanket-made" bed on the floor at 12 months - he had never slept in his crib at night and was now refusing to sleep in it for naps. He loved the bed on the floor, but I felt bad for letting our son sleep on the floor so we moved him into a toddler bed (which converts to a regular twin bed) at 14 months. He loves his bed, has only fallen out twice, and finally sleeps through the night.

Ellie will be 2 1/2 next week and is still in her crib. We have a toddler bed set up. She's slept in it a couple times, but she does so great in her crib, meaning she sleeps almost 12 hours at night. Why mess with a good thing?

Abby was 13 months old when she moved to the big bed.

We moved Emma when she was 18 months old or so. She wasn't having any problems with the crib, really, but had shown interest in sleeping in a big girl bed, plus we wanted to have the crib open for Krishan. She took to it immediately.

Katie just got moved, officially, yesterday. She is just over 2. She was sleeping with us, and we figured this would be a really tough transition for her, but she's doing great with it, so far. She slept 13.5 hours last night, by herself, in her toddler bed. She's asleep again tonight (has been for a couple of hours now) and we're hoping for a repeat...

Garrett's bed had been up for a couple of months now. He likes to play in it and will crawl into it at night, but won't stay there yet. He's 21 months today!

Sam just moved this week! Last night was his third night in the twin bed. He's 18 months next week.

Somewhere around 16 or 17 months, I think. She went from sleeping with us to sleeping in her own room in a twin sized bed.

Joe's almost 28 months old and still not ready. I converted his crib to a toddler bed today and he wanted his crib back, so I converted it back.

We just moved Isabelle last week into her big girl bed. She is almost 2 1/2 years old. It finally occurred to her last night that she could get out of bed and come into our room in the middle of the night. I was wondering how long it would take.

Kaari, my pediatrician just told us about that when I asked her about making the switch - she said don't be surprised if you have a week or two of perfection and just when you're starting to congratulate yourself for doing so well they start coming to you in the middle of the night. :) Just be absolutely consistent about taking them back to bed!

Anne, thanks for the tip! When I put her in bed last night I told her that she had to sleep in her own bed all night until the morning. She said "okay", but that doesn't always mean anything. Anyway, I went to bed prepared to stay strong and take her back to her own bed when she came into our room, but she never showed up.

Aidan was around 19 months. We were debating what to do anyway since Colin had just arrived, but he started climbing from his crib, leaving us with no choice. The worst part was he never again napped regularly. :( And his nighttime sleeping was way off for a while, and he never wanted to stay in bed.

We will NOT be moving Colin until forced!! But the little bugger is already putting his leg on the railings, so I fear that it won't be long...

Around the age of 2 (shortly before or after, I don't remember). We waited until we had bars installed on most of our windows (especially his room) since we were afraid he might climb up while we are asleep.
