How very frustrating!!! I am taking Computers 101 online for my general elective. I figured it would be an easy A for me. :supergrin

Anyway, from the initial correspondence in the course, I detected a bit of a grammar problem. Today I took my first exam in the assessment center, and this guy's grammar is so atrocious, it was difficult to make sense of some of the questions. His verbs didn't match up with his nouns, his punctuation and spelling is awful... I am at a loss here. :dunno: I did very well (got a 97/100) but this was the easiest stuff for this exam. I am worried about the subsequent exams. According to his own admission, he has been teaching this course for 3 years, and he also teaches at least one other course.

Oh - not to mention that 2 questions were identical:rolleyes:, and he asked a question about the history of computers when he specifically said that was NOT on the exam. :furious: I am pretty sure that is the question I missed.

Anyway, I'm just whining, I guess. Has anyone else had a similar situation?

I had several professors who's accents were so thick that no one understood them unless they wrote things on the board. It's really hard to learn anything when you have to soend so much time deciphering what the professor is saying/writing.

PS - I fixed your title. :)

:locolaugh I just realized I made a typo in the title of my grammar complaint thread LOL!!!Maybe you can appreciate how your instructor could make so many mistakes. :lol2:

But seriously, if I were you, I'd discuss this problem with someone in your instructor's department; he must have a supervisor or boss. It really isn't acceptable or okay for a college instructor, of all people, to have such terrible grammar; not only is he setting a bad example, but there's no excuse for an educated adult to either not know or just not care about writing carefully and properly. If you aren't sure who to talk to, would it be possible to send an anonymous e-mail, or even leave a note on his office door, explaining the problem? If you word it tactfully, perhaps you can make him aware that his grammar is not only inappropriately bad, but actually affects your ability to understand the material and perform well on the work.

Just a thought. I don't tolerate carelessness in grammar from anyone who's been in school past junior high, so I'm pretty nit-picky about mistakes in people's writing.

I also can relate to your problem; I'm taking a geometry course, and I'm TERRIBLE at math, so I know I will need things explained to me and I'll have to take careful notes. The only problem is my instructor is from Romania, and boy, does her accent, vernacular, and handwriting show that English is not her first language!
