Okay it's not exactly a rash but Joshua has two very, very sore spots between his 'cheeks. it started the other day with a very bad B.M. and now I can't get it to go away. This is Joshua's first. I've tried Desitin (my favorite), it's done nothing to improve it though and I've tried Triple Paste Medicated Ointment and it doesn't show any improvement on that either. This morning I just put vaseline on it. It looks awful and I don't know what else to use for it???

What has worked for you to help clear this kind of rash up? TIA!!!

Desitin Creamy is my favorite dipey cream.

I've heard great things about Boudreaux's Butt Paste, too.

Julia suffered from AWFUL bleeding diaper rashes for several months and we took her to the doctor many times. He suggested using 1% hydrocortisone and alternate it with ANY diaper cream that has 40% zinc oxide. Good luck!

We have always only used Vaseline and it has always worked for us pretty quickly. I don't know what else to tell you other than to do a search for this on the site. I know that others have had discussions about this type of thing and what to use!

Good luck!

Honestly the few times we've tried any type of diaper cream on Logan it always seems to make it about 10 times worse! The absolute best cure we've found for diaper rash (or reactions to nasty BM's like you're describing) is for milder cases we liberally powder with cornstarch or cornstarch based powder, and for the more persistant we use straight aloe gel, let it dry some, then powder with cornstarch. It's never taken more than 2 days to completely and totally heal - and he's had a couple really bad ones. LOL As an added bonus, these are things you can always find, are reasonable in cost and you know just what you're putting on your child's bottom!

You have to be VERY careful using cornstarch. If there is ANY yeast present and you put cornstarch on it, you are FEEDING the yeast and making it WORSE!

I swear by AquaPhor. This is the only thing that I have found that clears diaper rash almost instantly. Usually by the next diaper change if it is not real bad.
