When do you take the baby monitor out of the baby's room? Is it like between one and two or more like four? We are far enough from her room that we can't here her most of the time unless we have it.

My daughter is two, and I haven't done it yet. I'm too deep a sleeper - she'd have to be full-out shrieking banshee for me to hear her without the monitor.

I only use the monitor for naps or after bedtime when I am downstairs. Otherwise, his room is right across from mine and I can hear him easily.

We still use ours (Carter is one) and I can see continuing to use it for some time - it just makes me feel better knowing I'll hear him.

Cassidy was 3 in September, and I just took her out of her roomlast week. The only reason I took it out is because I moved Courtney out of my room and into her crib, and you can't use two monitors in one house. I can still pick up Cassidy calling on Courtney's monitor though.

We took ours out when he turned one. However I am as very light sleeper and wake up for the smallest, and his room is not far from ours at all.

Zoe is 17 months and we still use hers. We also have an upstairs bedrooms situation so it will stay for quite a while. We have friends whose daughter just started kindergarden and they STILL have a monitor in her room! I think that's a bit overkill now  But I think until they can independently leave their room and come downstairs to ask for help, etc... it's prudent to keep it in.

We also still use our baby monitor. Sometimes my dh has the darn tv up so loud that I wouldn't be able to hear him cry without it.

We have an audio and a camera. I am thinking that the camera will be used until, let's say, the girls are like 30! I know, that is so, "Big Brother," but I remember adolescence very vividly...and if they are like me.....

The audio one is nice because it is portable. Our house has three levels, and if I run down to the basement to throw in a load of laundry while the girls are napping, there is no way I could hear anyone over the noise of the washer and dryer - which is sometimes not a bad thing ya' know!

Used Alyssa's until she was about 2.5. At that point she always just came into our room when she woke up. Doesn't cry or anything, so we don't need the monitor.

Brendans (15 1/2 months) is still in his room since the nursery is on the other end of the house and he wakes up giggling talking and/or singing So you cant hear him when he wakes up.

Ours broke right before Jack turned 2 and we haven't replaced it. We can hear him at night because of bedroom is right next to his.

We are using our's still but only for the garge which we turned into a playroom. If I am in the house I can hear him anywhere, even while asleep but in the playroom you can't hear anything and I often go in there to watch TV or veg while he is napping.

We rarely use ours anymore- we kind of phased it out around 14 months or so. Emma's bedroom is downstairs from ours, but right at the bottom of the stairs, so we can hear her cry at night. Even when we're down in the basement, we can usually hear her when she wakes from a nap- she's got a good set of lungs on her!

We must have thin walls because I can hear Alex anywhere except outside. We haven't used the baby monitor since he was about 10 months old.
