Has anyone used Fuzzi Bunz on a newborn? Would you recommend them for the newborn stage? If not, what other AIO/pocket diapers would you recommend??
When Jacob was a newborn we used Kissaluvs 0s, and will probably use those again with this baby. But, DH and my mom (who spends a lot of time with us... ) really prefer AIOs or pocket diapers, so I'd like to get some of those also. We used Fuzzi Bunz when Jacob was older and LOVED them but have never used them on a newborn so I was just wondering if they worked well. Any thoughts/suggestions?

I was under the impression that newborns just grow soooo quickly that it isn't worthwhile. Aiden wasn't in fuzzi bunz until he was three months old. By that time, he was in the mediums. However, within four months, he outgrew those and is in the petite toddlers. So, I guess it would've been worthwhile, now that I think about it. He just went through soooo many diapers in the beginning.
I wish I could remember who it was that did try fb on a newborn.
Sorry I couldn't be more help.

I tried small FBs on my babies when they were probably about a month old - at that point they were weighing about what a typical newborn would have weighed. Anyway, they didn't fit - Madelyn peed and it ran right out the leg hole and all over me! They were probably 2 months old and weighing over 9lbs before they fit better. They are around 13lbs now and we still are in smalls with a couple of snaps to go before we outgrow them.
They make xsmall I think but I imagine if you except a typical sized baby that these would only last you a brief amount of time. And I don't know how difficult reselling xsmalls are - I would think they'd be much more difficult since fewer people need that size.
In the beginning I used prefolds and my DH used these fitted Didee ones that we had with prorap and bsww covers. My MIL used whatever, she was fine with whatever we had.

Gabrielle could fit the small FBs from about a month. She was in them for a few months and can still fit the mediums (she is 16 months old now). If I had to do it over again, I would have stuck with the fuzzi bunz and not ventured out into the world of cute cloth :blush1: FBs still work better than any other cloth I've tried, with maybe one exception (I love my leopard print fancy pants).

We started using FBs on Alyssa at 4 or 5 days old (I can't remember exactly  ) However, we used XSmalls, as she was tiny. We switched Alyssa to Smalls when she was around 10.5 pounds...but she has no belly, so she's a bit of an exception to the rule.
From what I've been told by customers, Smalls are a bit big on most "average-sized" newborns, but they grow into them relatively quickly. MOE lists the starting weight for Smalls as 7lb...in reality, I think most people find they start working really well around 8-9 pounds.
Once Baby is in the Small, though, they're wonderful!! That's just about all that we use. And since Smalls go (for most babies) until around 15-18 pounds, they do have quite a bit of room for growth.
Another thing I've heard of people doing, is using the Small FB as a cover for the Kissaluvs Size 0. The KL Size 0 holds in any gook, and you're still getting use of your FBs for those first few days that the FB may not fit as well in and of itself.

oh, I forgot to add that Gabrielle was only 7 pounds at birth (not bad for a 35w6d baby huh  ).

Yes, Audrey weighed 8 lbs. 6.4 oz at birth and she was wearing the small fuzzibunz at around a week old. I'd absolutely recommend them as they are great for holding those explosive poopies in!
Also, I bought mine used from Mia and Isabella had gotten her use out of them till she was around 6 months old (for the smalls).

We put FBs (size small) on Josiah once his cord fell off. He was in them until around 4 months, I'd say. Now at 11 months he's still in the mediums. The smalls will get used again though in a few months when "new baby" comes along!

We used the on Nick right after his cord fell off. He was a small baby too. Bumkins AIOs worked as well but we preger the fuzzibunz. He weighed 6 lbs 15 oz at birth so is a small baby. He was in the smalls until he was about 6 months old.
