View Full Version : Which diapers do you like best, and why?

We have been using cloth diapers since Gabrielle was about 3 weeks old. My mom bought us a huge box of Pampers Baby Dry to use when we go out or what ever. We are almost through them, and truth be told, I don't care for them much. My GF was here the other day and had the Pampers Cruisers (I think). I liked them A LOT better, but they still have that "Pamper smell".

I need to invest in another box since ours are almost gone. I have decided to just CD at home because quite honestly cloth takes up too much room in my diaper bag. Plus we are going on vacation in a few weeks and I am NOT using cloth while we are away :nono:

So my question is which disposable diapers do you like best and why? So far I've only tried the Pampers Baby Dry and Pampers Cruisers and hands down prefer the fit and feel of the cruisers.

We preferred Huggies.

I also prefer Huggies Ultratrim. I tried and didn't like pampers swaddlers, he could wet through those easily where that isn't a problem with the ultratrims. Tried the Walmart brand white cloud and they were find for size one and two but the last package we bought of size 3's were not as good as the ultratrims at keeping things in.

We use both Huggies Ultra-Trim and Pampers Cruisers... I have to have stretch and both of these have alot of that!

I love Pampers Cruisers too, but will often get Walmart's White Cloud when we're short on money. They are cheap!

That's the exact opposite of us... When Jason was a newborn we had a ton of Huggies Ultratrims, and he'd wet through those every time. We switch to Pampers Swaddlers (and then Cruisers when he got bigger), and we didn't have any more leaking.

I do agree about the smell though. Some packages of Pampers have that perfumey smell and others don't. I'm not sure why they don't label that on the package. Luvs also work well for us and they're cheaper, but all of them have that same smell.

I love Huggies Ultratrim. When Madison was born we tried Pampers but they would always fall off of her. I like the tabs on pampers but we're sticking with Huggies. We use Huggies overnights too.

Ditto! I actually prefer the Cruisers, but Huggies put out more coupons AND go on sale more around here, so that's why I sometimes get those. My preference is definetly the Cruisers though!

I forgot to mention this earlier... Lane has leaked a total of maybe 5 times with the cruisers... He has never leaked however with the ultra-trims. It wasn't major or anything though! We are using the crusiers now... but we just switch back and forth... I have also noticed that Huggies tend to be cut bigger than Pampers... Just FYI!

We use Wal-mart Dri-bottoms. They are cheap and work great.

We cloth diaper and have only used disposables a few times when we were on vacation. We've tried both Tushies and Seventh Generation. I prefer Tushies because they're chlorine-free and gel-free. But they aren't quite as absorbent as Seventh Generation, which are unbleached but do contain SAPs. I'd recommend either one, though! :)

We use White Cloud from Wal-Mart. They don't leak (unless I put them on crooked) and they don't have any smell at all.

They are also cheaper - $13 for the largest pack (Pampers and Huggies are $18 or so).

That's what we use too! I've pretty much tried all the brands and this is the one that Lauryn likes best. (she complains with the other ones).

Pampers rock! We have used them almost since Day 1 (minus some other brands we bought just to try them out, etc. - leaked out of Luvs, hated Huggies, etc.)

Huggies Ultratrim here! I can't stand that stinky Pampers smell! :dead: I'm not sure that I could use them because of that, even if they worked the best. Blech.

I kn ow Wal-Mart has White Cloud and Dri Bottomes (right?), what is the difference? Is one supposed to be like Pampers and the other like Huggies?

Brooke
May 16th, 2004, 04:10 PM
The dri bottoms are shorter in overall length. I have a pack of size 1's here that Rebekah and I use on her dolls and they were much smaller than the Pampers size 1's I had. They aren't too stretchy and they have sticky tabs instead of the velcro-type tabs.

The white cloud ones have the velcro-type tabs and they are longer, which is good for us because Rebekah is so tall.

I think I might try White Cloud. I tried Dri Bottoms and didnt care for the plastic tabs. Ive never bought a pack of huggies without a coupon but even with the coupons they're more expensive.

I love Huggies Ultratrim for both kiddos. I'm really not all that impressed with Pampers, I have to say. I've also used Luv's quite a bit, and like those just fine, too. :)

I tried Pampers when DS was a newborn and didn't like them at all! Then I switched to Huggies UltraTrims. I really like those but didn't like the price. Our local grocery store has a great brand, "DryFit" and they are awesome and $4-$5 cheaper than Huggies!

I use BRU's store brand, Especially for Baby, for both girls. Emily is in size 4's, and the value case (I think it's 80 some diapers) is $21.99....have never had a problem with them, and she's worn those since she was a couple weeks old. I do use Huggies Overnights at night because she drinks so much water during the day and sleeps 11-12 hours at night, she would leak through regular diapers. Sam's Club Smiles brand is also very good. Not a huge fan of White Cloud, and can't stand Luvs...they are stiff, stinky, and leaky!

The Dri Bottoms are weird because the ones we get here have velcro, but we bought some when we were in NJ and they had the plastic tabs.

I like Huggies Ultratrim. Sean does best in those.

With Sierra I liked Pampers Baby-Dry. Luvs were fine for her too. But with Sean the Luvs seemed to leak a lot. Yuck!

We use Pampers Swaddler/Cruisers. We tried Baby Dry and I hated the "plasticy" feeling to them. We have never had any leaks with Pampers (just a few blow-outs :dead: ). We buy them at Costco (144 dipes for $30)

Buy your diapers at Sams/Costco!! That will save you $$ right there. We buy Pampers Swaddlers and for $25 we get 204 diapers at Sams. You can get more Huggies (maybe 20 more) for the same price but the Huggies leak and they're just not as soft as the pampers.

The Dri-bottoms that I bought last had the velcro tabs. That was one of the reasons that I wouldn't buy them before. I'm using Luvs right now but I agree that they do have a smell to them. I prefer Pampers Cruisers but they are so expensive!!

We are flexible. And I have no qualms about using Luvs!! Generally, we use Huggies, Pampers Baby-Dri or Crusiers/Swaddlers, or Luvs, We've used White Cloud, but I hate Wal-Mart, so we dont buy them  I have no problem w/ Luvs or Baby-Dri for the babies, but with Aidan, they dont fit anymore. I think the Cruisers and Huggies and White Cloud fit best once they get bigger.
Oh - I dont think Luvs smell like pee  But I do think Huggies smell like cooked noodles when they are wet

We've tried everything (with the exception of Pampers Cruisers, which I can't find around here for some reason). The only diapers she hasn't leaked out of have been Luvs, so those are what we use.

We use Pampers Cruisers...I have never noticed a smell to them. I guess I am going to have to go smell!

I have tried Huggies, and they are ok, they seem to fit a little smaller on Jackson...I also tried a generic brand that my brother bought once when I sent him out for diapers...they leaked everywhere! They were really cute though, they had Peter Rabbit on them.

I just started buying them at Costco - b/c they just started selling the Cruisers there. However, BRU sells the big boxes for the same price, and you can use coupons at BRU...so I buy them there when I have a coupon...

I wish I could buy diapers at sams. They are cheaper but it would cost the difference in gas to drive up there.

Right now Madison is wearing Huggies Supremes that I got from Shanna. I really like these. After we're done with these my dad said he would go half on a case with me at sams. He'll go get them so we'll probably do that. Doubt that will happen very often though. Ill probably switch back to Huggies Ultratrim for those but I dont mind using White Cloud.

OK, I have never noticed a smell to any of our diapers  We have used Pampers Swadlers/Baby Dry/ Cruiser, Huggies, Luvs, Walmart brand, Target brand, you name it, I've tried it  I usually get my diapers at Sam's, though and I have checked around and it's the cheapest in my area.

I like Easy-Ups First Steps by Pampers (size 1T-2T) because (#1) they fit (#2) they're less bulky than the Huggies Ultratrims we used to use (#3) they don't leak and (#4) we can do standing-up diaper changes 80% of the time thereby avoiding the flailing and crying associated with the laying-down ones.

FYI, when K was younger, we tried White Cloud a few times but returned to Huggies when they leaked.

Huggies Ultratrim work great but I really love the way Pampers smell and feel. We used to use Pampers Swaddlers and the Ultratrims but now that he outgrew Swaddlers I occasionally buy the Cruisers, but Ultratrims do work the best.....
