So, I'm wondering how long I'm going to have to wait before I can pick up my 33 pound son after I have my c-section. I know it will be a while, but I'm dreading this time when I won't be able to go anywhere because of this.

It took me a long time to be able to do this, like 8 weeks. What I would do is sit down on the couch and grab a book and I would hold her there, I would also make a game of things like going up the stairs etc.

I picked Devan up a few times before my body was ready and my body definatly let me know. So please be careful

Brandi, I was told I couldn't pick up Emily (she weighs 20 lbs) until my 6 week checkup. Well, that's just impossible....DH works 12 1/2 hour shifts, and on his work days, he's gone when she goes to bed and doesn't get home til after she gets up. No way could I not lift her!!

I think I started picking her up about 2 1/2 weeks PP. I make sure to bend from the knees and lift properly, and for the first week or so I tried to only pick her up if I was already sitting. If you have an uneventful c section, you may not have such limited restrictions...I had severe bleeding and almost didn't survive, so that's why they wanted me to wait so long.
