View Full Version : HSG - Did it delay your cycle?

I had an HSG on cycle day 18 (my doctor was out of town to perform the procedure earlier). I've had 2 previous HSG's and neither affected my cycle. However, this time I'm now on cycle day 39 (9 days late) and still no AF. I have always followed a 29-31 day cycle and can only count two other times in my life I have been this late (besides my 2 pregnancies:awink: ).

My doctor was very adamant about not having any intercourse until after the procedure...which we abided by. So the first time we "got busy" was that night (cycle day 18). The first thing that popped into my mind is *maybe* I was pregnant. I've taken two pregnancy tests (1 last week and 1 on cycle day 37) and both were negative.

All that said....did the HSG affect your cycle?

My doctor's office said if I don't start by tomorrow to call them and I'll need to come into his office. I'm not under stress...just the typical stress that I always have.

Kerri, I don't recall the HSG affecting my cycle, and I had two of them. I do remember them being much earlier in my cycle than day 18, though - my doc said he preferred to do the HSG before day 7-10, that way there was very little chance of me getting pregnant and the test disrupting any possible pregnancy.

I had 2 hsg's and neither one affected my cycle bt I do remember the RE telling me that for some reason there seems to be an elevated chance for pregnancy within the following three cycles...Hmmmm?

Kim & Lisa - Thanks for the feedback. Typically, my RE also does the HSG's between cycle day 7-10...that's how my others were and they never affected my cycle.

I'm now 10 days late. I took another test this morning just to confirm and it was still negative. I'll call the doctor when they open this morning to set up an appointment. Who knows...I'm just ready for *something* to happen.

Oh, Kerri, the not knowing what's going on sucks. :bighug: I hope you get some answers soon.

Thanks, Lisa!

Now 12 days late....still no news.

The doctor's office prescribed medication to make me start (don't know the name) but I didn't want to take it until I had a blood test done to confirm I'm not pregnant. I'm 99.99% sure I'm not, but I don't even want to take that .01% chance. I will know the results around 4pm today. If negative, I'll start the medication tonight. If positive....complete shock!

Hmmmm....with all this, maybe I should start journal.
