View Full Version : Western WA Get-togethers...
Sparrowbug May 8th, 2004, 08:16 PM Okay...I'm inviting all of you to Brynn's party next Saturday, May 15th, at noon. (Most of you that are on the KIT board have already been invited there, but I thought I'd make sure that Sarah, Erica, and Shannon specifically were invited.) (Erica, I was going to send you an invite personally...but time has gotten away from me...so I hope you can still come.) I might go post this link in your journals too...just to be sure you guys notice...

Okay...HERE is your official invite...if you live in the WA area, and would like to come. We'll be having the party at Five Mile lake (see web site above for directions...and it's the same place we had it last year) and we'll have it at noon. (We decided to go with the lake after all because it's play area is so nice, and they have covered pavillions in case of rain. Plus...it's not as packed as other locations.) Brynn has a billion gazillion toys and such, so we've decided to do a potluck/"UB" get-together instead of a gift thing. Please post if you'll be able to come, and what you feel like bringing to eat.
I'll provide the sweet treats, as well as a few random GFCF things for Brynn to eat. (So, don't worry about that...) I'm also bringing utensils to eat with, and plates and such. So, we'll need:
Main dish type stuff:
Beverages: (no alcohol and one non-caffienated beverage)
Salads:
Side dishes:
Anything else you guys can think of???
We'll probably be doing another pinata...so you guys have been warned to bring your protective headgear. :awink:
Wendy
Sparrowbug May 8th, 2004, 08:29 PM Okay...I think I caught most of your journals and invited you...I'm on allergy meds, so I'm a bit hazy, so I apologize if I missed anyone.
Okay...subscribing to my own thread... (I'm a little scary on meds...pretty woozy.)
SarahK May 8th, 2004, 10:05 PM Wendy, as of right this moment, I'm planning on coming with Katie--Brian has to work though (of course  ) The only reason I won't come is if Katie is doing this scary hacking/not breathing thing still...because then there is no way I can drive her that far.
I'm not doing very well at thinking of something to bring. What about cheese and crackers? Most of the kids would like something like that, right?
Girlo May 9th, 2004, 04:07 AM I have to work next Saturday..... :( I am bound-determined to make it to ONE of these things if it kills me!
EricaMG May 9th, 2004, 08:28 AM Thanks, Wendy!
We'd love to go! I think what I'll do is bring Adam (since Brynn is technically his friend) and leave Jared with DH. Jared is at the age where he likes to explore on the floor (and eat) everything and anything, and I don't have a blanket large enough to accommodate him :)
I'll opt to bring a main dish. Hmmm....something pasta-y that kids like? Baked mac and cheese maybe? What does True like to eat? I'll think about it more.
Hey, and what is this KIT thing that you guys talk about????
Erica
Sparrowbug May 9th, 2004, 12:58 PM KIT is a private invitation only EZ board that many of us belong to. We sent out invitations about two weeks ago to people that several people sent in their names as prospective members. I listed everyone from our WA group hoping to keep us all together on one site, but I'm not sure everyone else thought of it...because I know your name was on my list. Beth, Eleanor, Jen, Sarah, Kathleen, and I are all members.
True loves mac and cheese.
jstauffer May 10th, 2004, 11:17 AM I'll be there with the kids. DH has to work graveyard shifts on weekends now, so we'll leave him home to sleep. I'll bring a bunch of veggies and dip. I'll bring some juice boxes too.
SarahK May 10th, 2004, 11:28 AM Okay, I must be going crazy. I forgot that this upcoming weekend is Viking Fest here in Poulsbo...and we already made plans to go to that in the early-midafternoon...and there is no way I can take Katie to Federal Way and then still drag her to the festival. So, I'm going to have to bail on the trip to Federal Way. :( I'm sorry.
Eleanor May 10th, 2004, 01:28 PM Viking Fest? DH had talked about possibly going to that this year (he's part Norwegian :) )- we'd probably go on Sunday though since he has a class on Saturday- you'll have to let me know if it's worthwhile :) Sorry you won't be able to make it to the potluck though :(
The girls and I will be at the park on Saturday- not sure what I'm bringing- probably some sort of salad- pasta salad or potato salad, or something that can easily be made ahead. Isabelle's naptime is usually noon or one though, so she may be a bit wild!
EricaMG May 10th, 2004, 03:22 PM Isabelle's naptime is usually noon or one though, so she may be a bit wild!
Yup, same with Adam. His behavior will likely be...umm....interesting.
Sparrowbug May 10th, 2004, 06:24 PM Oh shoot!!! Sorry...we actually decided on noon to beat the 1-3 naptime. We figured most of the babies would sleep on the ride home. We didn't want it earlier because I thought it would be too rough on Sarah getting there, and it would give us time to get things ready.
Anyway...it turns out I was wrong all around.
Jen, juice boxes sound perfect.
Wendy
Eleanor May 11th, 2004, 11:41 AM It's fine, Wendy- and it gives me a good excuse in case Isabelle decides to try to out-Aleia Aleia :)
As I've been elected to make tabbouleh salad for DH's potluck that day- I think I'll make a double batch and bring that (good thing you're not looking for GF, Wendy! )
Girlo May 12th, 2004, 10:01 AM Eleanor - I also live in Poulsbo and we are going to Viking Fest on Sunday!! :) I have to work Saturday....
I'll keep my eye out for someone that looks like your profile pic.... :) What I SHOULD do is visit your journal!
Eleanor May 12th, 2004, 11:56 AM Actually, I don't think we're going to make it to Viking Fest :( I promised my mom a while ago that we'd go to the University District Street Fair with her...and it's also this weekend. Oh well  I'm not having much luck meeting you Poulsbo ladies! :)
EricaMG May 13th, 2004, 09:17 AM Wendy- I might not bring mac and cheese after all, as I don't really have a reliable way of keeping it warm. Would it be ok if I brought sandwich stuff like turkey, cheese, lettuce, bread, etc. so people could make their own sandwiches? Is there something else you'd need? How many people are going to be there?
Sparrowbug May 13th, 2004, 11:40 AM That sounds okay. Beth (and her crew), Eleanor (and her crew...hey...I get to see the baby!!! Woo woo!), Jen (and the kids), Heidi (maybe...), You (and your kids), Me (and the family). So...about fifteen people if you include kids...I think.
Wendy
jstauffer May 14th, 2004, 12:06 PM Okay ladies, I'm warning you now that we may have to skip this. It all depends on how the kids do today. Yesterday Sean, DH and I had a terrible stomach bug that had us throwing up all day. Obviously I won't want to bring that to you guys. Hopefully we'll have a puke free day and see you tomorrow though.
jstauffer May 17th, 2004, 11:45 AM Yay, I'm glad we got to come. But, you all may not be. Yikes!! Sierra threw up in the middle of the night last night. Hopefully it was just an isolated incident. If we exposed you guys to something, I'm really, really sorry.
jstauffer May 17th, 2004, 11:48 AM But, you can all get even and come to Sierra's birthday party on Saturday the 29th at 11am. That's Memorial Day weekend. It's going to be at Forest Park in Everett. I'll see if they have a website...
jstauffer May 17th, 2004, 11:51 AM http://www.everettwa.org/Parks/default.asp?sectionid=2&parentid=1&subid=9
There we go. Too bad the animal farm won't be open yet.
EricaMG May 17th, 2004, 01:20 PM Yay, I'm glad we got to come. But, you all may not be. Yikes!! Sierra threw up in the middle of the night last night. Hopefully it was just an isolated incident. If we exposed you guys to something, I'm really, really sorry.
Ya know, I'm feeling really "off" today, like I'm coming down with something. I'll see how long I can ignore it  Hope Sierra is feeling better.

Well, if you got what we had, you'll definitely know it! Icky!!
