We are currently planning a trip to Vegas in Oct. or Nov. and I'm just looking for some recommendations about places to stay and things to see and do. This will not be our 1st trip - we went about 2 yrs ago and stayed at the Stardust - but things change there very quickly, so I'm sure there will be new things to see and do. Thanks for your help!

We're going next month for our anniversary and staying at Mandalay Bay (where we always stay when we go). IMO, Mandalay Bay has the best pools! We're planning to have dinner at Le Cirque and see 'O' on our anniversary. On past trips, we've eaten at Aureole (Mandalay Bay) and Picasso (Bellagio) and enjoyed really excellent meals at both restaurants. Shopping is fantastic at the Venetian, and we always go to the brewery at the Monte Carolo for drinks. We haven't seen many Vegas shows, so I'm eager to see what others recommend.

I have stayed at both the MGM Grand and The Venetian. To be honest I liked MGM better. THey have more places to eat and all around I just thought it was better. The Venetian was GORGEOUS and the rooms were really big but as far as dining and the casino go, we went somewhere else. :)

We go often as we live only 2.5 hours from there. We've stayed at CircusCircus (when we take our kids), MGM, The RIO, the Flamingo, and the Venetian. LOVED the Venetian!!! And, my favorite restaurant of ALL time is there...THe Delmonico (one of Emeril LaGasse's resturants) We've also eaten at the cafe on the outside of the Paris, overlooking the fountains of the Bellaggio and at the restaurant in the Eiffel tower of the Paris. Both were good, but not as good as Delmonicos. :lick:

I've seen Celine Dion and Blue Man group and Mama Mia while in Vegas.

Not sure what other info. you may want..... just ask away!

Wow, all kinds of good info! The main thing I was looking for was places to stay, as we want to stay more towards the center of the strip this time. We are leaning towards the Flamingo, but I think I'm going to check out the MGM, too. Thanks, ladies!!

I've only ever stayed at the Flamingo. I was ok. Nothing spectacular. You wouldn't know you were in a Vegas hotel by the rooms, IYKWIM?

we stayed at the mgm grand on our (brief) honeymoon in nov. '01.....i liked it a lot, we had a great view of the new york new york hotel.

i was 4 months pg at the time and i found the walk to the pool extremely long though....

we saw 'O' as well (love cirque, i've seen 3 different shows and we're seeing another in july).

Chris and the boys always stay at the MGM Grand when they go...they can get good deals there and they love their pools. When Chris and I went, we stayed at Treasure Island. It was nice, but IMO it was too far at the end of the strip.

I just have to make one reccommendation. When we were there, we ate at Josef's in Aladdin. OMG - it was delish!!

Trish, you may remember I was in Vegas the day your Aden was born. :)

We stayed at Caesars Palace and LOVED it. It is very centrally located, next door to Bellagio and close to Paris and Mirage. It had a GORGEOUS pool area, it was never too crowded, lots of fountains and very, very clean, and of course girls in togas bringing us drinks. It has lots of shopping, with the Forum Shops and there is also a sort of mall attached with lots of great places to eat, including Cheesecake Factory and Planet Hollywood. We visited all the other hotels but I doubt we'd ever stay anywhere else. Venetian and Mandalay were nice, but both are at far ends of the strip.

WE also spent one night at the Aladdin (after we got back from the Grand Canyon.) The rooms were nice but the pool area was tiny and just did not compare to the one at Caesars.

For food, I recommend the buffet at Paris for breakfast and the one at Aladdin for dinner.

Let me know if you have any other questions.
