Is there anyone here that did not go to college? I did not and I have to say, sometimes it makes me feel really bad. Don't get me wrong, I am VERY proud of myself for going as far as I have in life without a college education. I make more than a lot of the people at my work with a 4 year degree. But sometimes people make me feel less of a person because I did not go. It does not help that I am married to a man who is an engineer and both of his brothers are MD's. Oh, and my sister-in-law's, one is a physical therapist and the other one is a Dr as well.

I didnt go to college and Im a SAHM but I dont think im stupid. I didnt know what to do with my life then and now im doing something. I do plan to go to college eventually to get a decent job once my children are in school but im in no rush. Its ok with me that we'll never own a $300,000 home.

I went my first year out of High School and that was it! I never went to class... Didn't make good grades.... and I just realized that it wasn't for me! I am happy with my life and have no regrets! I was meant to be a Mom and am satisfied with that!

I never went either (money issues - parents weren't expecting me to want to go, although we made enough money to not qualify for financial aid  ). Sometimes I think about how different my life might be if I had gone, but then I wouldn't have met DH!

I went to college my first year out of high school but I was also engaged at the time ( ) and dropped out after the second semester. After my ex and I broke up I went back to school part time at the local community college but never finished my degree. I'm also proud of how far I've gotten without my degree. I'm a Senior Accountant at a very large company but I also know that I probably won't advance past this position without my degree. I've actually just quit my job because DH and I are moving to GA to be closer to my family and I plan to go back to school down there and finish out my degree. Getting my degree is something that's very important to me and something I will eventually accomplish. Now if I could just figure out what I want to do with the rest of my life.

I have the same problem Jenn. I am an accountant at my company but know that I will never get farther than that. I think that I would go to school if I knew what I wanted to do with my life.

I never got a degree either. I was accepted to a university, but my parents were not really any help financially..I was working part time in retail at the time, didn't have a car to get me to the college which was about an hour's drive away..got scalded with boiling water ina freak accident the summer before I would have started and it totally all just sidetracked me from attending the university. My mom forced me to at least go to the local JC..which I did for a few semesters. I did make it in the work force and eventually made up to almost a $100K salary so I didn't do too shabby, but now I really feel that I wished I would have been more motivated back then to get it done. I have done alot of college work here and there but nothing structured enough to advance towards even an AA degree.
I am 37 and hopefully one day I will finish and get a degree..I guess you are never too old to do it! I don't plan on having kids so that won't get in the way! We'll see!

I never went. All the major industries closed in my town the year I should of gone leaving my family without work, so since I was already working out of High School, I stayed at home to help out financially.

It doesn't bother me. I took some at home courses, but I never really knew what I wanted to do in life. I'm happy with how things turned out (I'm a SAHM) and I think that's what matters most. FWIW, DH never went either.

I took a few courses here and there, but never did get that piece of paper. I think about it a lot and WISH I would have finished. Some day I will. It is my goal to finish. My DH went to a Tech. College for firefighting, but dind't finish (he got SUPER close to graduating, but decided it wasn't for him...I could kick him for not at least finishing...at least he'd have the degree...but that's a whole other story)

Don't feel bad for not going, and definately be proud of what you have accomplished! I *did* go to college, and sometimes wish I wouldn't have (or at least waited) I spent 6 yrs in college, and guess what my job entails? - filing, copying, counting pages, putting paper into binders, putting files into boxes, blah, blah, blah. I feel like my education was a waste.
