Any CT ladies around? I've only been here a year-and-a-half, but we're buying a house in Manchester, so we'll probably be here for quite some time. Looking forward to talking with you all!

Angela1776 April 26th, 2004, 08:17 PM Hi Vicky, I am from CT too. I live in Windsor, which isn't too far from you! Congrats on your BFP! Good luck with the home buying process. I actually just got my license to be a realtor! Angela asta April 26th, 2004, 09:26 PM Hi, Angela! Thanks for the good wishes! Which realty company are you with? We're using Realty 3 in Southington for buying our house. Best of luck--I hope you make some nice commissions soon! Angela1776 April 27th, 2004, 11:19 PM Hi Vicky, I am with Century 21 in Windsor! I hope I make some nice commissions too! :) Thanks for the good luck wishes. I just showed land in Southington last Sat. Do you live in Southington now? Ang Dawnie April 28th, 2004, 02:21 PM Another CT person here! I'm in Litchfield. I like it up here because it's nice and lots of open space and we wish we could afford to purchase a home here but we can't. Good luck with buying a home and congrats on you BFP, Vicky. Congrats on getting your license, Ang! asta May 3rd, 2004, 05:29 PM Hi, Dawnie-- Wow, you must have your hands full with all three of those cuties! My dh and I have ridden up through the Litchfield area just once, and it is a really nice area. I understand what you mean about being able to afford a house--dh and I moved from the Boston area less than two years ago just so we could afford something. As it is, we have probably looked at 40 houses, and most of them in our price range should literally be condemned. I really hope you're able to stay in Litchfield when it's time for you to buy a house. Great place to raise your kids, I'm sure! Ang, maybe you can help Dawnie out with the house-buying when the time comes! Oh--and to answer your question--we actually are renting an apartment in Meriden right now, and I work in Southington. We are using Realty 3 because I saw an ad a while back for a house I wanted to look at, and they were the listing company. That house, like most that we've seen, needed a really good natural disaster or explosion to make it better. Ciao for now! Melissa May 5th, 2004, 10:05 AM Hello! Another nutmegger here. I'm originally from Danbury, but now I'm in Waterbury with DH and DD. I'm not sure how much longer we're going to be here (DH is in the Army) and he's supposed to be transferred in a year or so. Hello Vicky, Angela, and Dawnie! Angela1776 May 5th, 2004, 08:23 PM HI Dawnie, Melissa and Vicky! I would be more than happy to help Dawnie look for a house when the time comes. I also work in banking so I can also answer questions about mortgages. There are a lot of good companies that are really good for first time home owners, so it could be worth your while to check out. Melissa, My birthday is the same as your daughter's, Kathleen! Vicky, I work in Plainville, which is close to Southington! Talk to you ladies later! Melissa May 6th, 2004, 10:45 AM Hello everyone!!! Angela, that's awesome!!! What is your favorite restaurant in Connecticut? How about your favorite mall? Where is your favorite free recreation spot? Melissa May 6th, 2004, 10:47 AM What is your favorite restaurant in Connecticut? I love Macaroni Grill! Unfortunately I have to drive 40 minutes to get to one. How about your favorite mall? I love the Danbury Mall, however the Buckland Hills mall runs a close second. Where is your favorite free recreation spot? I love the Middlebury Greenway. I also like Kent falls, and Hop Brook Lake area. Angela1776 May 6th, 2004, 11:14 PM My favorite mall right now is WestFarms Favorite place to eat is Bertucci's, Macroni Grill is a close second! Hmm have to think about that last question! Dawnie May 7th, 2004, 11:43 AM Where is the Macaroni Grill in CT? My favorite is the Olive Garden but there isn't up in this corner. I think the closest is in Danbury. All we have is Red Lobster or Applebee's. I do like to do to TGIFriday's and Chili's in Waterbury though. My favorite mall? It use to be Danbury but the Disney Store is gone from that one. I haven't been to the Buckland Hills mall in a long time. The last one I went to was the Meriden Mall. Free recreation spot? We take the kids to Community Field in Litchfield a lot. They have a huge playscape, ball fields, basketball courts, track, and tennis courts. The Northfield Dam is nice too because they have a beach and the water is fairly clean. asta May 7th, 2004, 09:23 PM What is your favorite restaurant in Connecticut? This is a tough one. We've been to some GOOD restaurants here in CT, but our favorites are in MA (where we lived for billions of years before moving here). I guess I'd have to say the Yankee Silversmith Inn in Wallingford. The food is good, and the restaurant is so cozy. We've gone there for our past two wedding anniversaries, and it's just been really nice and romantic. How about your favorite mall? I currently live in Meriden, so I'm most comfortable with Meriden Mall. I'm moving to Manchester and looking forward to the insane number of stores around Buckland Hills. I think my favorites are the outlets down at the coast (Clinton area), though. Did some great Christmas shopping there this past year! Where is your favorite free recreation spot? Two places actually. Hubbard Park in Meriden is really beautiful. Drew and I love to go down and feed the ducks in the evenings. One of my co-workers and I have been walking along the Rails-to-Trails that has been under construction for a while and we start in Plantsville (part of Southington), and walk towards the center of Southington. Lots of people have been using it to go for family walks with the kids and dogs and using it for bike rides. Very nice! Angela1776 May 13th, 2004, 10:43 AM Mmm....Yankee Silversmith Inn is delicious. Have you ever been for brunch? They are one of the best. Meriden was my favorite mall when I used to live down that way, now I don't get there at all. Too far. Buckland is nice because of all the stores but the traffic is insane. I don't go there unless I absolutely have to. They have a cool store there, It's called the Final Markdown. You will have to check it out! Have you ever seen Hubbard all light up around christmas time. It is awesome! There is a Macaroni Grill in Manchester and West Hartford. Those are the only 2 I know! Dawnie May 13th, 2004, 11:24 AM Macaroni Grill is too far to go for dinner. Maybe the next time I get out to the Buckland mall. :) I hope everyone is enjoying this wonderful weather we're having!!! I'm so happy that summer is finally starting to arrive! I hate the snow and cold! Angela1776 May 13th, 2004, 07:01 PM I love this weather! I had a wonderful week for vacation! Just wish I got more done around the house! Kaybee711 May 13th, 2004, 09:19 PM Hi Girl! I want to join in too! I live right outside of Hartford in Newington. I think my town is the best and most convienant but who doesn't love their town. I don't think we will ever move out of Newington but Mark would like to get back to Glastonbury someday. NO THANK YOU! Too far from my family! What is your favorite restaurant in Connecticut? Right now the only thing that pops into my mind is Chowder Pot. It is seriously awesome. There are so many good restaurants in Hartford though. I highly recommend you come out here to eat. The parking sucks but it's worth it. How about your favorite mall? Considering I live five minutes away I would have to say West Farms but I am not a big mall dweller anyway. I get in and get what I need and get out! Where is your favorite free recreation spot? The Bushnell Park is beautiful and often has great things going on over there. http://www.bushnellpark.org/ I would love to find a closeby dog park but I think if there were one I would have heard about it by now. Angela1776 May 13th, 2004, 11:42 PM Hi Kerri! Welcome, girl. Yes, Chowder Pot is seriously awesome! Have you been to one of their comedy dinner shows yet? I haven't gone yet, I really want to! Dawnie May 14th, 2004, 08:54 AM Hi, Kerri! I was wondering when you were going to find us! :) Congrats on the awesome weightloss! I've seen you around OUAL and noticed your siggie. That's awesome!! :) Theresa June 1st, 2004, 01:28 PM I'm here! :wavey: Sorry it took me so long to find this group. I'm Theresa. I live in Bristol with my DH Keith, our DD Ellie and our DS Ian. I just love CT. I've lived in Bristol my entire life and really can't imagine living anywhere else. My entire (immediate and extended) lives in the area. BTW, If any of you are looking at houses, there's 2 on my street for sale. It's a nice, quiet neighborhood, close to shopping, and close to the highway. Where we live is perfect because everything is close, but you're not right on top of it. Ok. To answer your questions: Favorite restaurant: Branigan's in Southington! :lick: They have the BEST ribs, but all their food is really good. Nice, casual atmosphere, too. Favorite mall: I really love Westfarms to wander around. The stores are really expensive. If I want to shop, I usually go to Meriden Square. That's a nice mall, too. Favorite recreation spot: That's a tough one. Paige Park is about 2 minutes away. That's nice to take the kids. Really, I like any park with play equipment for the kids. AngCTRealtor June 5th, 2004, 07:10 PM Hi Ladies, It's me Angela (formerly Angela1776) I had to reregister. Long story, check out my journal if you want to know the story! Welcome Theresa. I am very familar with Bristol. I grew up in Farmington and Plainville. I remember sledding at Paige park and swimming there as a kid. One of my closest friends lived on Marcia Drive. Melissa June 23rd, 2004, 08:46 PM In our local paper we got a summer living section. In there were two pages devoted to stuff for kids. Well, a number of children's museums are mentioned and one is KidCity in Middletown. I brought Katie the other day and it was WONDERFUL!!!! There are a few rooms designed for children under 3 years, and other rooms for children 3 and up. It is very well laid out and Katie had a blast! We enjoyed it so much that we became members and now I can go to the Manchester and Norwalk children's museums for free, plus a whole bunch of others around the country! Has anyone else visited these places? Theresa June 23rd, 2004, 10:34 PM I was planning to take Ellie and Ian to Kid City at some point this summer. Sounds fun! AngCTRealtor July 6th, 2005, 09:36 PM Wow! It's been over a year since any of us CT girls posted? How are all you CT girls doing? What's new? Not much here. Just really happy Gov Rell signed the infertility bill to cover IF expenses! Yeah CT! |
