View Full Version : Do you iron your sheets?

I got some new sheets out the other day and was reading the care label on the back of the package. It said the usual, "Machine wash warm with like colors, tumble dry low, low iron" I thought to myself, 'now who the heck irons their sheets? Don't you lay on top of them and wrinkle them anyway?' I could see maybe ironing a duvet cover that sits on TOP of your bed, but sheets? No way!

Iron? What's an iron? Not only DON'T I iron sheets, I just throw anything that needs "ironing" in the dryer. If that doesn't get the wrinkles out, well, then that clothing isn't wear-worthy to me

I had a roommate who ironed her pillowcases  I'm anal, but not that anal!

If I'm trying to make the bed look REALLY good (and only our bed) I'll iron 'em- like if Morgan is away and I want a nice romantic night. But that's only happened like twice!

The first time I got a new bedset for my daughter I washed the sheets and afterwards they were wrinkled so I ironed them but it was only that once!!! :) I think I had the dryer on the wrong setting

but I do iron curtains...especially after I've purchased them and they have the folds in them.

I'm another no ironer. I also never buy any clothes that might have the possibility of needing an iron.

:lol:No ironing here and if it has to be ironed it gets left at the store...I agree with Lette ! I have a iron and a ironing board and the iron is still in the box !
I mean my sheets are going to get wrinkled anyway :brow: .

I DETEST ironing, but my mother is a dyed in the wool ironer....she actually has a huge Rowenta professional iron with a separate water tank, I think the thing cost almost $200. For that much money, it better iron the clothes for me! She still irons her pillowcases, her t-shirts, jeans, etc. She even takes in ironing for her friends and my brother, they all pay her by the piece.

I think I hate ironing so much because it was one of my chores as a kid. At age 10 I had to iron pillowcases, teatowels and my dad's Air Force dress shirts...ironing to military specs will make you swear off ironing forever!! Although I used to have a 100% cotton and Battenburg lace shower curtain that I would starch and iron...never again.

I only iron if I absolutely must have to and I don't when it comes to sheets  My grandma, on the other hand, irons everything, including her underwear

I also detest ironing! And for sheets, seems like a waste of time and energy to me. I only iron if absolutely necessary and then try to talk someone else into doing it for me!!

No way!
I won't even iron Dh's shirts - he says I don't do a good enough job so I say "do it yourself!"

Even I have never ironed sheets! Ok, maybe once, but not regularly!

Could there *be* a bigger waste of time?

I detest ironing and that's one of my biggest gripes about maternity clothes - so many of them need to be ironed! :complain: I'm very much a wash-&-wear kind of gal, so not much gets ironed at my house.

I must be the most anal person in the world, because I do iron the sheets that go in the guest room. I don't iron the ones for our bed, because after they are washed, they are promptly put on the bed. I will actually wash the sheets for our bed twice because the linen closet just has that "woods" smell, and I prefer adding Lavendar water to my wash.

Oh, and not only do I enjoy ironing.... BUT, I have 2 irons and am considering a third professional iron (like the Rowenta Amy mentioned) because I am an avid seamstress. Ironing is a heck of a lot better than vacuuming the stairs. I hate that chore!

Nope, I've never ironed sheets. I did iron some new curtains once and usually iron what I wear to work but that's about the extent of it. I hate to iron so I only do the bare minimum.

No way, no how. I even go out of my way to avoid buying clothes that require ironing! Why iron sheets when you're just going to lay down on them and get them wrinkly again??? The only thing I ever iron are curtains, when I switch heavy curtains from the winter to lightweight curtains for the summer.

Never :dead: If I fold them right away when they come out of the dryer (while they're still warm) they don't need ironing.

oh my..no way! I only pull out the iron when DH needs to wear a dress shirt..like to a wedding/funeral. We even try to buy the wrinkle-free khakis for him  I do own a few shirts that need ironing after washing, needless to say I generally only wear them once a year or so  I have ironed curtains, but that's something that everyone sees, and you only have to do it once!

I have to agree...vacuuming the steps is also one of the suckiest chores!

I iron for no one ;) (ok, maybe once every year or two I may iron me a blouse, but IMO, it's a waste of time as the dryer does a better job  )

I actually love to iron, but I never iron sheets. I don't see the point, especially since my comforter covers them, and besides, I put them on the bed right when they come out of the dryer, so they don't get wrinkled anyway.

I avoid ironing at all cost. my idea of ironing is hanging things up straight from the dryer.
