I don't live in Florida, but I'm from there. I was born in Tampa and lived there until we moved to NC when I was 10. My family (except for my parents, brother and sister) still live in Tampa and Ft Pierce.

Hi! I don't live in Florida but my husband wants to move there. His parents live in Spring Hill (about an hour north of Tampa) and his sister is in Tampa. The only thing holding me back from saying "okay, let's do it" is work and having to pay for daycare. Right now we have a pretty sweet deal. If we move and have to pay more and I make less money it would be pointless for me to work at all. I'm not sure if we could live on Jim's salary alone. He found a job while we were there in April where he would start at about the same salary as here then get a raise after 90 days.

Well, now that I've rambled, I'll get to my question.... If any of you are working moms, what are you paying for daycare? What type of facility is it in or do you have someone come to your house?

Thanks.

I used to use a family homecare in Tampa and it was $135/week. I think that is pretty reasonable for here. I have a good freind that lives in Spring Hill. It is really growing up there. Our friends own a great italian restaurant, your ILs hav probably gone to called Guidos. Great people, great food. Anyway, come on down, we all do eventually....

What part of the panhandle? I was born and raised in Panama City. Moved to Orlando a year ago when I got married. I REALLY miss Panama City and the beach!

Hi everyone! We don't live in Florida right now, but we will most likely be moving there next summer. My dh wants to go to school at FullSail in Winter Park.

What's the Winter Park area like?

Dawnie... I live in Cape Coral (2 hrs south of Tampa) and Abby is in daycare and we pay $105 a week. Here daycare canr ange from $100 per week to $145.

Wow... there are a lot of Tampa and Orlanda girls here. So maybe sometime we can have a get together in one of those places! That would be fun. :lick:

Winter Park is generally expensive. I have a friend whose soon to be ex hubby went to FullSail, he graduated last June.

I would love a get together! I live in Wesley Chapel, about 1 mile outside of tampa.

I pay $125 a week for my 4 yr old for daycare in a center. Not bad compared to what I have seen!

I live in Brandon which is about 15 minutes east of Tampa. I have a home daycare provider and I pay her $110 a week. This includes, breakfast, lunch and 2 snacks. She helps with potty training and teaches them "preschool" type of stuff. David loves her. Just recently I was looking at other possibilites and the range was from $109 (private Preschool) to $125 a week. Not to bad. I hope this helps. Keep in mind the daycares/preschools are all in the Brandon area.

So when is this great get together? I'm in!!

Tori Lynne
June 10th, 2004, 11:00 AM
I think a get together would be great. Maybe inTampa since we have a lot of members there and it's a pretty central location.

Maybe in a park and we could have a bring a dish type BBQ (I like this idea) the kids could play and Moms & Dads could hang out and eat! Or we could go to Busch Gardens or something.

I would volunteer to coordinate but since I don't live in Tampa I have no idea where anything is or what is there! I would be willing to put together a Florida members list and when we plan something handle the RSVP list if someone else would help with the location and plans. What do you girls think??

Ok. I live in Brandon, which is right outside of Tampa, and I would be happy to help coordiante. Some suggestions...maybe the water park, instead of Busch Gardens, just because a lot of kids might not be able to go on many rides, and even babies can get in the water (IMO). Or, there is a new indoor play area in the Brandon area, I forgot what the name is, that is supposed to be huge. I think they just had their grand opening last weekend. A park, would be nice, but way too hot right now IMO. I have a pool in my backyard, and I would be willing to host everyone if that would be an option? Like I said, I am in the Brandon area, right at the corner of I-75 and I-4, about 15 minutes from Tampa, 45 minutes from Orlando.

Mid July or August is good for me. I am free on the weekend anytime after the 4th so far.

Let me know Florida gals!!!!

Stella that would be great!! I love the water park idea or your pool (nice of you to volunteer!). Especially this time of year that would be nice!

Maybe the end of July or August??? I'm the same way, pretty much free after the 4th.

Since no one is showing up in here too often maybe I'll try to PM a few FL members and get themt o come back.

Hey...thanks for the PM. I haven't been coming around much lately...been crazy busy at work. A get together the end of July / beginning of August sounds great. Are you talking about Adventure Island. OMG I haven't been there in 15 years. I used to love that place. Stella; that indoor play area is right up the road from my house. I have heard it was great. I would love to go there and see about it. Let me know. I will PM my email address in case I don't make it back here in a timely fashion

We were fine with Charley....just some heavy wind gusts (we are
on the East Coast near Cocoa Beach..just more inland)

Then Frances came around........ SHE DID A LOT OF DAMAGE
to our East Coast... it's insane.. we had a lot of shingles missing,
2 sections of our fence were gone (someone brought them back
and put them in our yard) and our pool is just awful..about 8 trees
worth of leaves, 10 shingles...and it's now a nice shade of kelly green!
:(

Thank God Ivan won't be showing his nasty face around here!!!
Although there is always Jeanne out there... GOOD GOD GIVE US A
BREAK!!!

Anyway...we evacuated for Frances..took us 22 hours to get to Biloxi/Gulfport
Mississippi. It was miserable. There were 6 adults in 3 cars...plus our 2 cats
and the dog. OMG! Plus when we got there we shared a room with
all of them! Talk about cramped quarters!

But we're fine and happy that it wasn't as bad as we thought.
(we lost power for about 22 hours) most people here STILL don't
have power!!

How did everyone else do??

Didn't get much feedback from anyone:sleepy: so I didn't put anything together. It is a little too late to go into our pool now, since the temp is below 80 now (I am so spolied, huh?).

I live in Brandon, but unfortunate for me, I work in Westhore area. I am available on the weekends, though. Let me know.
