I think this should go here, but I'm not sure....

We are planning on using the 'sidecar' crib plan when our little one arrives. After the first week, DH will need to return to work. How do you wake up without the alarm waking the baby??? Is this a problem?

It just occurred to me last night as I was in bed awake for hours last night worrying about important things :disbelief

DD didnt sleep with us but she did sleep in her bed in our room. She was usually up by the time DH's alarm went off but the days she slept in she sometimes woke up with the clock. I hated it but I couldnt turn it off and I couldnt sleep in another room. I ended up sleeping on the alarm side and turning off right away so it wouldnt wake up DD. Then I would stay up and play snooze while he slept. I didnt like the situation at all.

Isaiah used to sleep though DH's alarm clock. If your DH isn't a real deep sleeper you could get one of those alarm clocks that you can use the radio as the alarm, then you could keep the volume low.

Well in the first few weeks baby wakes up often enough that they are dh's alarm! Anytime between 6:30 am and 9am when Janelle woke up DH would get up. But after a year of that dh just has a natural alarm...he doesn't need a baby or anything, he's never slept past 8:30.

The alarm doesn't really wake up my son either. We have a radio alarm clock so it isn't one of those smoke detector sounding alarm clocks that sends you shooting up when it goes off. I want to say it has woke him up maybe three times in 7 weeks and he was wet/dirty all three times so he probably would of woke up on his own within the half an hour anyway.

We try to get the button as fast as possible. I usually I turn it off and than quietly wake DH to get up and start our day. We both work but its nice if the baby stays asleep for us to do our morning routine. Especially me since I have to pump to make sure he has enough milk for the day.

The alarm never woke up my girls when they were co-sleeping. :)

It never bothered Aidan or Norah :dunno: BUt one of the things I did w/ all three kids is make noise during the day. So they are used to noise & it doesnt bother their sleeping

We just made sure to hit the alarm as soon as it went off, but most times one of us was awake before it went off, so I'd just make sure Robb woke up on time if I woke up before the alarm was supposed to go off

like everyone said, we co-slept with both our girls and neither seemed to notice.

We have one of those chime alarm clocks that starts out with a chime, ten minutes later another, and then eventually builds to constant chiming until you turn it off. I usually smack dh into turning it off before it gets to that point. Waking up the baby hasn't been an issue yet. But usually, one of our girls is up and we don't need the alarm!
