I'm here!! I'm in Buford on the Hall County side. It's not that far out though. I used to live in Suwanee and I grew up in Norcross (Peachtree Corners area). DH grew up in Rome, GA. So we're all over the place!

Well, I'm a Senior Accountant (without my degree, though) and my DH works in the car business. He has his associates and is willing to change careers and possibly start more entry level if it would get him out of the car business.

What kind of people do you know? :)

BTW, we want to live in the Lawrenceville area and I know that's not too far from Buford.

That's not far at all! Gwinnett Co. is a great area and there's so much to do here! And plenty of business too...it's just knowing where to look to find what you want.
I can't think of anything right off hand, but my mom is one of those people who knows everyone...so I might be able to come up with some ideas. We also go to a church with over 5000 members in Duluth. My parents are 2 of the few original members, so we know a lot of people there too.
I'll see what I can come up with!

Tiffany and Wendy, you guys rock! I have my resume but need to redo Jeff's. His was lost when our old computer crashed last year. Let me know if you do know of anything and I can email you our resume's. :)

My family lives down there but unfortunately they don't know too many people to help us find a job. I just want to live closer to them since I don't have any family here in Northern Virginia. Not to mention we could buy an incredible house for less than what we would sell our townhouse up here for.

Are you checking the classifieds? Or Monster.com is always a good place to start.

I was going to suggest trying Monster.com too. I know that our company ended up hiring someone they just happened to find on there. Lot of large (and small) companies use that sight to find people. It's always good to at least have your resume out there.

Still asking around though!! Hopefully we'll find something for you soon! :)

I haven't been checking the classifieds for myself because I'm not positive I'll be working when we move down there. I will if I need to but I'd rather try to stay home for awhile.

Unfortunately the line of work that DH is in they don't normally advertise for jobs. It's more of a word of mouth type of thing but I have been checking for him and haven't come up with anything yet. I'll keep looking though. :)

We're not a very talkative group, are we? :) Anybody up to anything interesting lately?

Jenn, any luck with the job situations? I haven't heard of anything yet, but I'm still keeping a look out. You said your dh is in the car business...like sales for dealerships or manufacturing? Is there anything else he wants to do instead? I know you said he was willing to change careers...Just thinking about you! :)

Aw, thanks for thinking of me Tiffany. :)

No luck yet, but then again, DH hasn't been looking. We were thinking of moving in the fall so he stil has time to look for a job. Actually, he works in the parts department of a local dealership and sells parts. I think he would go to a parts manufacturer (like a plant or something) but I'm not sure. He's been in the business for 15 years so I'm not sure what else he could do outside of the car business.

I know there are a TON of dealerships in the Atlanta area and I'm positive he could get a job making close to what he's making up here but he just needs a swift kick in the rear to start looking, kwim.

:yippee: Woohoo!! How exciting, Jenn! You won't be that far away from where I live!! :)
I'm sorry I haven't been any help on the job search, but have you guys found anything? I have looked around in a few places, but I didn't hear of much along the lines of what you were talking about finding.
Hopefully you'll be able to sell your townhouse quickly too! I'm sure that be a big help to you guys.

Hi Tiffany! Nope, we haven't found jobs but we're making enough on our townhouse and another townhouse we sold about 2 months ago that we'll be ok without jobs for a couple of months. My DH is, of course, going to start looking for a job right away but we are very fortunate that he doesn't have to be working down there immediately.

I might stay home after this baby but I haven't decided yet. I like working but it would be a nice change to stay home with my kids for awhile. We'll see.

Jenn- That's great that he doesn't have to jump into anything as soon as you guys get here! I'm sure that takes a little bit of the pressure off.
I'm glad that you have to option to stay home too! I don't mind working, but I would give anything to stay home with my son full time. Thankfully, I don't work full time, so I'm not gone all day. It's nice to have the flexibility.
