OK-maybe this should go somewhere else, but I was wondering...

How do you get your baby a SS#? And how quickly does it happen? I'm asking because 1. I have no idea! :lol

But really, I have to sign the baby up for insurance with in a month of birth and it asks for a SS#. Do you just skip that part initially????

you fill out a form at the hospital and they send it in. the card takes a while, i remember being able to put the baby on our insurance before the card came, then calling the ins. company when we received it.

Yep, what Kim said. But for me I got the girls' SS cards within 3 weeks. But I've heard of some people having to wait for months.

The hospital sent a form out for me and I received her card a month later.

:nod: the insurance will wait on the SS#... don't delay the enrollment for it or you won't have coverage!

The hospital took care of Abby's for me. It took about 3 months to get it but I enrolled her in the insurance first.

I filled out the form at the hospital and it took about 2 months to get the SS#. I just called my insurance when I got his SS# and they let me use my insurance card for him until then.

We filled out the info for her birth certificate and the hospital took care of ordering her SS# for us. We got it in 3-4 weeks.
