Anyone know??? The insurance at my new job pays 80% so trying to do the math. With Saxon I don't remember seeing the bill.

My vaginal delivery was estimated to be $5000. C-sections are about double, I think.

Do you have a yearly out of pocket maximum? If so, that's most likely the MOST you will have to pay out, even if it's less than 80% of the total.

Mary's was about $15K. As Brooke said, your insurance plan should have an out of pocket maximum that caps how much you have to pay. Check with your benefits coordinator or whoever to find out what it is.

Thanks everybody! I do have an out of pocket max. I didn't understand what it meant. It is $3000 anyway so I guess the next kid is gonna be much more expensive than Saxon.

Maybe I'll head down to Texas for the delivery!!! Actually I was debating trying a VBAC maybe I'll try even harder!

Not to scare you but my hospital bill came to $40,000 +. But I had a week of hospitalized bed rest, a lengthy induction and then emergency C-section. I got the bill two months later and almost died. Luckily insurance covered it ALL and all I had to pay was a $15.00 copayment!

Our hospital bill was just about $15,000. About $3500 for the baby and the rest for me. We also have an 80/20 plan and so far we have paid about $2200 and we haven't got what we owe for my part of the hospital bill yet.
Our plan has a deductible for each person or a family max. So I have a feeling we will be paying a bit more. There were some billing issues with my part of the bill so that is what is holding that up.
I had a reaction to the spinal so I had to have general anesthia too which pushed the bill up higher then usual.

I didn't have c-sections...but we had to pay 10% of our hospital bills with Janelle and ended up paying $1500 out of pocket...but she spent some time in the NICU so that was expensive.

All totalled together (4 seperate hospital stays totalling 15 nights in the hospital and lots of monitoring, drugs, and ultrasounds) our bills for Kincaid have been 76k!!!

I just thought a perspective on how much an ann arbor hospital costs might be nice...I asked my midwife the price differences between a normal labour and delivery and a c-section and she said a section is usually 3k more...this is at U of M.

Mine was about $13,500 and we had to pay about $3,000 total out of pocket. Most of that was lab stuff, anestesia (sp?) and misc that docs love to tack on that insurance won't cover.

I hope the next kid appreciates the $$$ we spend on it. I guess it will make up for having to use all of Saxon's hand me downs.

Thanks for all your responces.

I think mine was close to 10K by the time I was out of the hospital, I have pretty good insurance and didn't have to pay for anything.

Mine came to about $15000 and I didn't even stay the 4 days. Luckily we had great insurance then and we didn't pay any of it.

This time around though our insurance only pays about 80%.
