ANybody have a small chopper they love? i have tried 2 or 3 different ones from Bed, Bath and Beyond (I want to say OXO was one of the brands, can't remember others), and they were annoyingly unchoppy. I usually test them on tomatoes, and maybe I shouldn't, or I fear I may never find a chopper i like..

My MIL swears by her Pampered Chef one, and I'm about to buy one on Ebay, though it looks exactly like the ones I've tried. So, before I buy it, any recommendations-on any brands? If you have any thoughts on the PC one, please share, too, but I just want any general likes and dislikes.

thanks!

Are you looking for an electric one? I've had a Black & Decker "mini-chopper" for at least a decade and use it for chopping nuts or loads of onions, mostly. I've always liked it. For things like tomatoes, though, I just chop by hand.

No, Kelley, I'm looking for something to chop small amounts of veggies/herbs/nuts-for salads and such.
I'm not looking for an electric one for this, because to me, it's just a hassle to get the thing out and plug it in when i just need a quick salad or smth like that. I do have a hand blender for more involved cooking.

I've had a Pampered Chef one for years and have never had any trouble w/it and I think it chops nicely.

I've had my Pampered Chef one since before Jacob was born (13+years) when I started as a consultant. They do okay with tomatoes, but know that once the blades get dull, they won't chop tomatoes as well. (that's the reason why cheap ones don't chop as well, the blades don't come as sharp) I'd avoid one on Ebay and get a new one if you can. It will last longer, and they are worth the money.

Just make sure to put the skin sides up when chopping.

Thanks, guys!
Shel, if i buy a new one off of Ebay, wouldn't it be ok? I suppose I can go through PamperedChef, I just choke when I see the price plus ship....

as long as its new. I've just seen used ones on there. :dead: Usually new ones on ebay are from a consultant and may even include the warranty.

I just bought a PC chopper and love it. I use it to chop up onions usually. I've purchased the cheaper ones from BBB and thought they were horrible. What I really like about the PC chopper is how it opens up to clean it thoroughly.

I live and die by my PC chopper. They are warrantied for life, aren't they? I think if they blade gets dull they'll replace it :dunno: Even if it does get dull over time I still couldn't live without it, and I would buy it over and over again.

I had the PC one and it broke within 18 months and never chopped very good. I was very disappointed with it.

Melissa, bummer.

It sounds like everybody (except for Melissa) is very happy with PC chopper, so I think i'll give it a try.

The thing that was stopping me was the fact that the construction *looks* exactly the same as the other ones I've tried... the way the blades are positioned, as well as the whole assembly of it. But I'm hoping that the quality will be different. The ones I bought from BBB were $20 each, so it's not like they were super cheap, either.

I'm watching a few Ebay auctions now, I'll let you guys know if I'm smitten with it when I get it

Thanks for the advice!

 Yes, the construction is similar but the quality of the blade is completely different! I've had the BBB ones and they sucked! But I noticed an immediate difference with the PC one.

I cannot get the edited 'rap' version of this out of my head since I saw the title of the thread.

I, too, have a Pampered Chef one.

Well, PC it is for me. I got one on Ebay, brand new and all. I can't wait to get it and chop stuff to see if i like it. I can see fajitas on the menu one day next week when a certain box should arrive at my door
