View Full Version : Anyone with a big family???
Tracy December 17th, 2003, 12:48 AM We have a total of seven kids..We each had three when we got married and in 200 I had a tubal reversal and we had Char in Aug of 2002..I love our big family, the kids are ages 24, 21, 20, 19, 17, 14, and 16 months :) We only have 2 here full time..but the others are in and out all the time now..
I was just wondering if there are many others out there with a big family or any planning on a big family???
aphi1872 December 17th, 2003, 03:54 AM Dayumn! Better you than me! :D I have a large extended family (Mum is one of 7) and DH has a kid from a previous marriage. I think we will have at least one (I might have to talk him into 2) :)
Mandy December 17th, 2003, 07:47 AM I come from a big family, does that count? My parents each are one of 7. In my family itself, I have one biological brother and one biological sister, plus 3 adopted sisters and 2 adopted brothers for a total of 8 of us. (Ages are: 25, 23, 21, 15, 10, 8, 5, & 4)
Dh and I are planning on having 4 or 5 of our own and then we're going to consider adopting two if possible.
Tracy December 17th, 2003, 07:00 PM Jill..I wouldn't change it for the world :)!!!
Mandy..Good for you!!! Emma is beautiful by the way!!!
Mandy December 17th, 2003, 07:36 PM Thank you Tracy! :)
AllyRae December 18th, 2003, 08:32 AM I only have 1 child, but my mom has *6*....our ages are 23, 21, 19, 18, 7, and 1...LOL!
Cortney December 18th, 2003, 05:08 PM I only have 1 so far....but we want several more....I want 6 and DH wants 5. :)
Martian Lullaby December 19th, 2003, 11:35 AM I'm the oldest of six and didn't really care for it, so we'll be having two at the most. :)
Ausmaree December 19th, 2003, 05:16 PM My parents both have 5 kids in their family, so I have a large extended family. My SO also has 5 in his family.
We haven't decided how many kids to have yet - he wants a large family, but it will depend on finances ultimately :)
Tracy December 19th, 2003, 11:35 PM Wow, I am surprised at how many want a large family :)
Juliemaye December 20th, 2003, 03:37 AM Sometimes I think I want 4-5...but we will see. Haven't even had one yet.
AmyP December 22nd, 2003, 12:15 PM I'm one of four, and I'd love to have four. DH wants two, and that's probably all we can realistically handle if I want to stay home.
Faye December 22nd, 2003, 05:07 PM I come from a family of 4 children and DH comes from a family of 3 children. We only wanted 1 child to begin with but decided to have another one 5 years after our son was born. I'm glad we did. Now we have a girl and a boy and we are definitely *finished!* I think big families are great, as long as I don't have to have the children. I look forward to just watching mine grow up at this point. I've completely enjoyed my 8 year old son so far his whole life. It's wonderful!
Billy December 26th, 2003, 02:30 PM I think we have a big family! When my husband and I were married, I already had 2 from a previous marriage and then my DH and I had 2 more. So we have 4 children. Ages 8, 4, 2 and 3 months. Two boys and two girls and we are done!!!

KimC January 5th, 2004, 08:50 AM No big family here. I'm one of two, DH is the oldest of three. We have two now and after the next one, we will be done.
Jillian January 5th, 2004, 09:49 AM I always wanted a big family, but we are learning that my body just isn't good at being pregnant...so we aren't really sure how many we will have now.
Our original plan was to have 2 close together (dd will be about 18 months when ds is born), then wait 5 years and have 2 more close together, then wait another 5 years and adopt 2. Now we will probably end up adopting, but we will also probably end up with only 4 kids instead of 6....and the gap between these 2 and the next ones will probably be more like 10 years rather than 5.
Tamara January 5th, 2004, 07:38 PM We have 4 kiddos, Alin 9 Jeffery 8 Brendan 15 months And Rebecca 5Weeks
Were done. So I am not sure if its concidered Large or not but its big :)

2-point-something.....:dunno:
Honeydew14 January 6th, 2004, 07:28 PM My mother comes from a family of 9 siblings.
She had 3 children and all of her siblings had at least 3 children, some even had 5 and 6 kids.
But the next generation (me and my first cousins) are definitely not following in that footstep except for one cousin who ended up with 7 kids.
I don't have children yet but I barely want one. I'm still coming around on that one though.

I believe its 2-3 depending on the area From what I remember from the censis report I did a few years ago.

For once I am above average
Natalie January 7th, 2004, 09:34 PM We actually only want one!! :owow: Most people tell us we will change our minds but we are really happy with one for a lot of reasons (financial, lifestyle etc)
And he will be here in less then 10 weeks!! :crossfing
Demetria06 January 8th, 2004, 07:56 PM We are a family of 5...including our 3 babes. I wanted 4 children and sometimes so does he, but after the birth of Simeon, I decided to let him stay the baby:) if I get baby fever again, like I did before TTC with Sim, I will get a puppy!

Shel January 9th, 2004, 12:01 PM We have 3, and some people act like that's a litter or something! I think everyone thinks of the "perfect family" as the 2 point something kids - one boy and one girl and a dog. We are OTL for one more, but with some fertility issues, it probably won't happen.
