I had another trip to labor and delivery today. This morning my b/p was 130/90 and I had a lot of edema in feet, legs and hands. Also, I had a headache that wouldn't go away after taking tylenol. I have been drinking plenty of fluid, over 64oz before noon of either water or watered down gatorade and my output is not were close to that. So, obviously I am retaining a lot of water. I just feel really off and I have been getting dizzy. At the hospital they hooked me up to the monitors and of course my b/p was fine, I just still had a headache and edema. I also have a trace of protein in my urine. I had a CBC and liver and kidney function blood work done and that came back fine. They told me to call my doctor if my symptons become worse.
How bad do you have to feel before they will do anything? How sick do I have to be?

Kate~
I had that with my son..... I went in and my BP was 160/70 I think... that was the highest... I also gained like 5 pounds in a week. He watched me for a week or so and told me to be on Bed Rest.... He induced my labor a week later... to the day. It will get better dear! Just hang in there. If you don't get the answers you want for L&D then call and talk to your doc. I did and it was much easier. I was 3 weeks early... I wouldn't be induced if you don't have to be, it wasnt fun because of the Pitocin. Just hang in there... If you have anymore questions let me know!

Kate, I had PIH (and pre-E at the end) and my OB just put me on bedrest at the end...he didn't induce me until 41 weeks...which turned out to be a mistake and I had to be on magnesium sulfate because things were so bad with me. I gained 8 pounds in two days at one point. (He waited to induce because I was not at all dialated.)
Definitely talk with your OB. He had me coming in for BP checks and NST tests every other day for the last three weeks of my pregnancy.

I had PIH and it started at about 25 weeks for me. I was put on BP meds until 36 weeks when I gained 10 pounds in a week and a half and had protein in my urine and the meds were not working. Then I had twice weekly NST's and in the end was induced at 38 weeks.

I had PIH with my first pregnancy that developed around 30 weeks, and was put on bedrest at 32 weeks. It never developed into pre-E, and at it's highest, my BP was 165/115. I did have to make 2-3 trips to L&D for monitoring when my BP didn't drop after resting on my left side...one time it even escalated. I was induced at 39 weeks, had not dilated at all, and the induction failed...I ended up with a c section.
Thankfully, my BP has been much more reasonable...125/65 for the most part...this pregnancy. Last week at 36 weeks it was 145/100, but dropped to 132/82 after rest. Hopefully it stays down, only two weeks to go!
Oh, and I did end up with twice weekly NST's for the last 3-4 weeks of my first pregnancy. I would definitely talk to your dr some more, especially with the headaches and edema. My OB's nurse told me they generally don't get concerned unless the bottom number (diastolic?) is over 100, but still, I would ask about NST's and regular BP checks just to make sure.
